I have a 16-month and almost 4-year-old and we absolutely LOVE the Little Red Barn!!!! Here's why... 1.) It is very clean-- I have no problem sitting on the floor while the kids play, and I even felt comfortable putting my baby on the floor before she could walk. The bathroom has a full-size diaper changing station (not just a plastic pull-down table), which helps. 2.) The toys, play structures, tables, benches, floors etc. are of great quality and condition. The owners take a lot of pride in the place and it shows. Kids make messes while playing, so it's expected to see toys out of place... but hey! it's a play place so I'm definitely ok with that. ;-) 3.) The types of toys they provide really encourage children to use their imaginations and interact (or play on their own too-- my kids do both.) The ice cream parlor is our son's favorite! 4.) The space is big enough for kids to explore and run around in, yet small enough to easily keep an eye on them. 5.) There are highchairs and 2 large picnic style tables in the front, plus we are allowed to bring in food. Perfect to take a break, have lunch then play again after. (We've even had pizza delivered before for a playdate with friends). 6.) Even tho we mostly go to play, the selection of Melissa & Doug toys for purchase is INCREDIBLE and the prices are extremely fair. Excellent place to buy presents or neat stuff to bring home. 7.) There are fun classes you can join in the morning too. I like that we don't have to enroll or pay extra-- if we can make it, great. If not, maybe another time! ). The teachers are professionals, and they are outstanding! 8.) But best of all, we feel it is a very safe, clean, caring, exciting and unique place for kids to have FUN. Great place for moms/dads/grandparents to interact too (if they want...). Love it for playdates, parties or just last minute fun. So lucky to have The Little Red Barn...
Read moreWhen we started bringing our daughter Ashton, we loved coming. However, after two run ins with an employee, Belle and then a conversation with the owner, Brandy, we have cancelled our daughter’s membership. Belle decided it was her place to lecture me in front of other mothers and mom shame me about my daughter having a freshly dirtied diaper (on a day I was already running around like crazy and left her diaper bag at home, dumbly), then today she decided to “have a teaching moment” with my 2 year old daughter about sharing- because another mother complained that my 2 year old wouldn’t share. Developmentally sharing doesn’t occur until 3.5-4 years. The employee then decided to come lecture my husband and they wanted to know “who is her parent”. He ended up having to leave due to being publicly shamed for something not shame worthy (another parent complaining about a toy).
I raised notice on social media to the account owners about the incidences. For a place that isn’t targeting or tallying up on a kid, they were able to easily cite reference to last Friday and how they had to step in with claims that my child was acting badly- which she 100% was not. She’s a playful and energetic 2 year old. But, hey they aren’t supervising or targeting anyone- only focusing on my daughter.
I purchased a one month recurring unlimited open play membership and didn’t even get to use a full month - I got a half of a month- and asked for a refund from the owner and was told “I don’t understand why you think you’d be deserving of one, you’ve come many times?”. Isn’t that the point of an unlimited membership- to be able to come frequently? This is after she asked many times throughout our 24 minute call to reconsider not cancelling our membership and telling me what a...
Read moreGreat place. My daughter has come to this place a ton of times so we finally decided to invest in a membership (great idea). Staff members are always very friendly, one of them even took time out from cleaning to try and play hide and seek with her. I chose to only give a four star review because while this place offers daily activities, they can get a little boring and stale. For example, my wife brought our daughter here a year or so ago to do a music activity. I then did the music activity in December 2019 and January of 2020. Each time it was the exact same thing. Some rattling of maracas on the ground, pitch matching with "Mr. Microphone", 2 seconds of exploring new instruments, and 2 seconds of free dance (the seconds are exaggerations). If they could make the daily activities a little less repetitive, I would give this place five stars.
Edit to reply to owner: Your explanation makes a lot of sense so I changed the rating. Thank you for...
