I have waited for over a year before writing a review. Both my childâs health and my own health were affected from mold and chemicals in these apartments. I did not live in the apartment, but I fell ill when I visited and the âmove outâ, requiring the greatest exposure both to mold and pesticides, required medical attention and much time to recover. We had to enlist the services of an attorney to leave and it cost us a few thousand to get out nonetheless. When they asked us what they could do to make things better I requested that we be released from the lease. They said that wasnât possible. They claim there is no âbuy outâ but that is semantics. The wording in the lease makes that claim and you sign off to that. Regardless, we paid the remainder of the lease.
I felt something was wrong when we returned from the summer and furniture was outside in the parking lot We found mold on some furniture and it was immediately replaced. The apartments both inside and in the outside hallways smelled strongly of Glade or Airwick spray or some product such as that. Clearly, something was being masked.
The first year was fine. The return the second year brought new issues. A cat had stayed in the apartment for a short time during the summer. We did not complain. I was unaware. We visited once to pick up some things. The heavy scent of air freshener sprays had started both inside and outside the building. There was some sort of liquid sprayed on the windows in the stairwells and the scent was overwhelming. The problems became more evident when we sent our dog back to stay. We paid the necessary fees, and we knew another dog was coming. Our dog didnât have fleas but every time she entered the apartment she sneezed and it worsened quickly. She was sent home and recovered. We went through this three times. Eventually we kept her home. She never did have fleas. Our preventatives had been working just fine. She was young and healthy and thankfully recovered quickly from the respiratory ailment. She recovered so quickly and reacted in the apartment so quickly that it was quite evident that an allergen in the apartment was to blame. Our child remained in the apartment and her symptoms worsened.
It became clear that she needed to get out. A rash, headaches, and extreme fatigue worsened. A serious flea problem took over the unit. Her room was locked up for the summer. When the girls went inside her room fleas attacked. The dormant stage will remain so until a host is detected. The apartment claimed we would be splitting the cost. Keep in mind the flea infestation is likely due to the cat that was once there. They later changed their tune when we were actually working to get out of the lease. Instead of splitting the cost with the other tenant with a pet, per the lease agreement, we were told we must pay the entirety because the fleas were in her room. They knew that prior and reassured me that regardless of where the fleas are located all pet owners in the apartment hare the expense of flea treatment. The others had already started complaining to us. The door was locked due to policy to reduce liability. Our daughter was home recovering from the reaction and we were paying full rent. She had only lived in that apartment a few days that year. The fact that the room had not been in use and therefore was not vacuumed and mopped regularly with the rest of the unit was discounted. I assume they wanted to make sure to keep the remaining tenantsâ parents happy. After all, it was clear we were leaving regardless.
The move out day was a disaster. We were told we could get her things out safely before the pesticide spraying if we did so before 11:00, but by 10:00 the entire place was soaked. We were sick for months after. No one should be exposed to that level of pesticide usage.
Parents, your child is precious. Take great care in your choice of a...
Read moreI guess you get what you pay for but Iâd spend my money elsewhere. I had such a poor experience. Itâs funny that they sell themselves as luxury, since theyâre quite far from that. The staff was unhelpful 50% of the time I spoke with them while living there, they had to go ask someone else and would get back to me till the next day. This didnât seem the fault of the front desk workers but rather a true lack of training on part of the managers. The pool was closed for most of the time we lived there, meanwhile their sister apartment across the street had their pool open. My key didnât work to the main community building that we were supposed to have access to. The âsecurity gateâ worked for maybe a total month while living there, left open for anyone to enter otherwise. My front door several times would lock my roommates and I out. Move out was difficult and they wouldnât let me back into the apartment I was still playing for later. Not to mention they charged over $150 in âpainting repairsâ for damage that was less than the size of a dime. There was a leak in our roof and instead of repairing the moldy celling they just painted over it. We had several mice and cockroaches in our apartment and we were liable to exterminate them. I found poop, trash, smoked cigarettes and cigars, in the stairwells on several occasions. While there was a policy that pet owners must pickup their dogs poop it was not enforced, I stepped in poo several times. Speaking of their pet policy, they had a screening process but clearly it wasnât managed well or enforced. While walking our dog my boyfriend was bitten by an aggressive dog of another resident. Furthermore if you want their cheapest rate you have to sign a 12 month lease but are not allowed to move in until late august and are asked to leave before the end of July, meaning you pay for a full 12 months of rent and are only allowed to live in the apartment for 11. This is to âcleanâ but it was filthy when I moved in. Oh and our dishwasher did not work, every time we used it it would make an awful smell, we tried everything to fix it but...
Read moreWe moved my daughter there and the apartment was dirty on move in, and fleas were in the apartment and in the bed. Work orders takes weeks for someone to show up to repair. She was notified with a voicemail with less than 24 hours notice she had to move into a hotel for a week for the floor to be repaired (they claim they had been calling her but I even looked at cell phone logs, no one ever called). Her car was in the shop so she had to use my husband's truck to pack her things to move into the hotel when maintenance was beating on the door for her to get out, and they towed her within 20 minutes of being parked in a resident parking spot for her to bring her clothes down 4 flights of stairs, bringing food, etc for a week in a hotel. $200 for towing, total scam with the towing company! They moved back in on a Sunday night and ALL the furniture, refrigerator, etc had been left outside all week and was all sitting outside when they told them to come back at 8pm on a Sunday night. The apartment was covered in filth and the A/C was broken from freezing up while they ran it 24 hours a day while doing the floors. They wouldn't let them go back to the hotel and they stayed in an apartment with no A/C then for 36 hours. I've asked who is going to pay the overage fees for electricity for that and I'm sure they will try and stick them with it at the end of the month. They sent someone to "clean" the inch of dirt all over everything the next day, who said it wasn't their job, and left it filthy, then had to wait another day for someone to come clean it. They were supposed to re-treat for fleas in 2 weeks, that never happened. Wifi is horrible, no elevator, they claim to have VIP parking since parking in a nightmare, but they have no spots available to purchase. They know these are college kids and totally take advantage of it. I would never sign a lease there again. Read all the negative posts before you move in here! I was basically told, we stay full so if you break your lease we will just move...
