REPLY: The staff IS rude and discuss personal matters in front of others. Never raised my voice, but got the attn of a girl 15’ away from my car, I didn’t want to leave my dog alone. All I said was “excuse me, miss?” I’ll give Kathi credit for a quick response, but when they called me back, the girl was rude & confrontational- I had to calm her down! Why do the operation? They never offered a refund, just to hand my dog back. “I need to know if you want to pick her up or do the surgery, we do 80 spays/neuters a day, we need to fill her slot”.I told her I’m not upset with the surgeons just the misleading advertisement and attitude of staff. Your office needs a refresher on customer service. LOOK AT SCREENSHOT ATTACHED, Instagram post made by YOU “60 pets a day”. “My rescue banned”? I volunteer at several so be more specific, no one has bad mouthed you cause they are all grown ups. You shouldn’t assume things… This is my first amendment right. It’s not ok what you’re doing. It’s false advertising. Honor your prices- don’t make us pay extra for meds, cones, peace of mind. Call me anytime to discuss this if it’s bothering you that much. I said my piece here, people have the right to know what to expect. Your Insta post and negative reviews don’t lie.
DON’T bring your pet here thinking you’ll save $$. They Don’t honor the discount spay with Link card. Brought my determination letter showing mine and my husband’s name AND the app, AND offered my ID. BUT because my husband is the one the letter is addressed to first, followed by my name, they REFUSED TO TAKE IT. ITS A FAMILY ACCOUNT!!! My husband’s out of state for a funeral & couldn’t come. I had to contact their CEO Kathi via messenger to try and resolve this since the kids that work there are ignorant and refuse to help. Finally got a call back and after some back and forth they finally offered a partial discount. And guess what? I STILL PAID OVER THE ONLINE PRICE!!! They take your $50 deposit over the phone and you show up for your assuming that $50 goes towards the online price of $185 for spay. That’s not the case at all. It’s still $185 AFTER deposit. IV with fluids? it’s $25 extra and there’s a statement on the paperwork saying your dog’s life will be in jeopardy if you don’t choose this added option. Sedatives? That’s $25. MUST HAVE RABIES VACCINE, that’s $30 and get the rabies tag or the county will send you a fine!? Yeah ok. Having been a volunteer for a rescue I can tell you that no one else requires a physical tag. It’s digital. A cone? That’s $10 and flimsy af. They literally yell out the at home care instructions to a group and you’re supposed to remember it all. Then all dogs are brought out and stressed still half out of it from surgery. Tell me how they performed 100,000 spays/neuters in 2023 at over $200 a piece (maybe less for cats) which would equal over $20 MILLION dollars annually, yet they were only able to “help” with free spays and neuters for 8,941 animals? They only claimed 2.4 Million with 2.3 million being write offs and their CEO taking a salary of $80k. Where did the rest of the “donations” go???? Because every time you pay for a spay or neuter they call it a donation of tax deductible monies. You mean to tell me that over $20 million dollars is just MIA? How does this not raise any red flags????? I’d love to hear your rebuttal to this. Instagram says you take over 60 dogs a day, your girl says you do more than 80 in a day! Your taxes and website states you did 100,000 last year alone PLUS vet services. I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again Kathi Daniels - YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOUR ORGANIZATION! Taking advantage of people. A woman in the parking lot today told me how she got screwed over by you guys on the 65 and older discount and that she had to write it ALL OVER HER PAPERWORK this morning to ensure her cost was discounted. What happens now? Spay Illinois will ban me. Anyone who argues fees or has a negative comment will be banned from their organization for life. Fine by me, it costs the same to go to a...
Read more3/16/21 My sister took my dog to get simple shots before scheduling his appointment to get neutered. (Couldn’t make it there myself) Upon arrival they obviously make you wait outside for your pet to be seen due to covid regulations which is understandable. HOWEVER, once one of their workers came to get our dog to get his vaccines they were pretty rough on trying to get him inside (you’re not allowed to bring them in yourself). Our dog is not friendly meeting new people; they took precautions and put on a mouth guard. (which I respect). Once being inside everything seemed completely fine. My sister saw him through the window sitting perfectly fine and acting his usual self. Only shaken up a little bit being there by himself. It wasn’t until AFTER his procedure when one of the workers came back and told my sister our dog broke off completely one of his nails. I was contacted immediately by my sister and listened to every word they were saying. Their story went a little like this. “Oh, he hurt his nail, it’s bleeding a lot, it might come off, he’s in pain and discomfort, that will be an extra $40 for a scan if you want to get it checked today” immediately I was ticked off. #1 how and when did my dog get hurt and you only notify us at the end of our services.. #2 TRY TO CHARGE US FOR SOMETHING YOUR STAFF DID. The worker that gave us information was only the messenger between the doctor and the employee that dragged him inside. (which I had no reason to hold her accountable but the actual staff that touched my dog) she kept going back and forth trying to get a story straight from the staff that handled him and they removed the charges for scanning his paw and covering it up once I raised my tone and questioned them on the steps of their procedure, staff handling their clients, and why the heck we didn’t get a call once they noticed my dog was hurt (visibly bleeding everywhere with his nail fully coming all the way off) and continuing the services. They kept using the excuse “your dog was afraid, we didn’t want to keep making him nervous, these types of things happen when dogs get alarmed, it seems that it happened once your dog was being brought inside and not in our care and we noticed in between shots” the whole thing didn’t make sense. My sister literally saw him through the window being perfectly fine before his shots; why the hell did he come back being injured?!! I refused my sister to leave without him being properly checked out. That’s the only way they took more precaution and attention to what was actually happening and not “your dog got hurt, pay for this and that for him to feel better”. NEVER in any other places where we’ve taken him such as: banfield, emergency visits has he ever been hurt. He was suppose to only come in for simple shots and the situation turned into a nightmare. I ended up paying for medication which I was not going to let my pet suffer through pain. His bandage completely came off in the car and he began to bleed everywhere again. I called their customer service and they said the best they could do was re-wrap it again. I did not take my dog back, he was already traumatized enough. I honestly wish I never even booked his appointment there in the first place. I’m disappointed, dissatisfied with his handling. For being professional this should not have occurred in the first place. I will never go back. Please take your pets elsewhere. Their safety and wellness should not have...
Read moreI called and left a message and 2 days later received a call back. I was inquiring about ballpark figures for a dental surgery for a dog. I gave them info on the size (weight) and age of the dog and that at least 4 teeth probably needs to be removed, and that there’s an abscess. It’s great the called back, but the person on the phone could give me NO INFORMATION, even with an assurance that I know a physical examination will be necessary and will change actual estimates.
The person on the phone couldn’t give estimates for basic things like pre-surgical blood panel (a standard lab that should have a standard price), radiographs (necessary to see how far infection has gotten into an infected tooth), a basic cleaning under anesthesia (also should have a base price by weight/size, as it’s a necessary part of dental surgery for dogs). Their excuse was that they are not a vet. YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE A VET TO GIVE BALLPARK FIGURES FOR ROUTINE LABS/PROCEDURES. I’m not a vet and I don’t work in a vet’s office but I know that my dog will need blood work, radiographs, dog dental extractions require a dental cleaning and that an abscess requires fairly immediate attention.
Which brings me to the next point, I next asked when they could see my dog for a pre-surgical dental appt. Their answer? They’re booked through the year. When I asked about appts for Jan, they said to call back at the beginning of next year. It’s 6 weeks to Jan. I asked how far in advance their pre-dental appts fill up, and they just said call back next year. So...if I’m asking for appts 6 weeks in advance, when I call back in Jan. 2021, what are they going to say? That appts aren’t available until March?
I also asked whether they know fo reputable veterinarian dentists who might have a better idea of when my dog could be seen/assessed. They told me to Google vets in my area (which is how I found this place).
What’s the point of calling back when the call is completely useless, gives no info or even an idea of when (if ever) my dog can be booked for a pre-surgical appt? The vm I left specified what info I am looking for, that my dog is small, has a broken tooth that got infected and I’m certain he needs it and probably other broken teeth removed.
It isn’t too much to ask for basic pricing because money is tight during these Covid days and it is critical to know how much I need to be allocating/saving up for this medical care my dog needs. Or, if they listed basic price ranges in their website, and the list of basic pre-surgical tests that are needed, it could help too.
11/20 UPDATE after Kaitlyn’s response: The manager’s response gave more information and explained why they wouldn’t let me book a consult 6 weeks in advance of when the receptionist said availabilities will begin. Now that I know they’re booked through Jan. 2021, I now know I should call in mid-December to get an appt in Feb or Mar, instead of being left in the dark without a reasonable response. The procedure/process explained is also helpful for planning purposes. If I can’t find a vet doing affordable doggy dental surgery in the next month, I’ll call back in Dec....
