Awesome Euro-style store. They keep their prices low by doing things such as having you put a 25 cent deposit into a cart, so people will actually return their carts and they don't have to worry about sending someone out to collect them, or worry about cars getting damaged due to people being lazy like at Walmart. If you forget a quarter, sometimes you will find a charitable person in the parking lot, willing to give you their cart before they return it to collection. If you ask a store employee nicely, they can also give you a cart or quarter so you can get one.
They usually only have one person ringing, as they keep minimal staff on hand to make sure they can pass savings right to the customer. However, they work extremely fast, and a 5-person line that would take forever somewhere else, only takes a few minutes here.
This store is always so clean and the produce is always fresh, since they get daily deliveries. The staff is always friendly and provide great service even when they are working hard stocking the shelves. They will always stop what they are doing to help out and point you in the right direction.
They have the best prices in town, especially on the essentials like bread, eggs, and milk. They have a part of the store dedicated to carrying an assortment of "exotic" or foreign items from different regions that they will cycle out through the year. It's always interesting to see what they get in.
Since the store is smaller than your typical Walmart or Market Basket, the selection is not going to be as good, since they try to carry a range of items, like toiletries, in addition to groceries. Instead of having 50 different styles/types/brands of salsa, you may get 5 at best, which is just fine with me. They mostly carry "generic brand" items, which is yet another way they keep their costs low. I actually prefer some of their generics to the national brands anyway.
I'm not sure why people are so critical of things nowadays (the people who gave bad reviews). If I EVER try a new place, I usually try to do my research so I know what to expect (very easy considering most of us carry smartphones with us everywhere, and have the ability to "Google" things). At the very least go in with low expectations and an open mind - some of my best experiences in life have been had following this philosophy.
TL:DR - Have an open mind and an empty stomach, and you won't be disappointed! If you are one of those "one and done" kind of people, and refuse to come back to this store based on a "bad experience" (like having to deposit a quarter for a cart) - have fun paying more money for...
Read moreIF YOU NEED THE ELECTRIC CART, BEWARE.
I have enjoyed shopping here in the past. Their brands are good and inexpensive. The problem is that for the last two months the electric cart has been broken. A handicapped person with mobility issues cannot shop there. The manager does not seem to care
Be wary of the price of brand name items. They are way more expensive than other stores. Stick to their brands if you want to save money. They are quite good.
I would love to continue shopping there, but without an electric cart I cannot.
The employees are wonderful. They are knowledgeable, helpful and pleasant. The manager could learn from them.
I went there again today. The electric cart is still broken. The manager did NOTHING about it. I would have called them first to check on it, but they do not take phone calls. I'm done with the Nashua store.
I'm adding to my previous post: It's now MONTHS later and the electric cart is broken AGAIN. I went last week and the cart was not working. I assumed it was not charged, so I went back the next day. Found out it is actually broken (again). I was told they are "coming to fix it on Thursday". I waited until the following week, went on Tues. Still broken. A woman was leaving the store and told me "It's still broken, I'm going to Market Basket". So did I. So, Aldi doesn't need our business?
It is now July. The electric cart has been repaired. I contacted their corporate office and the issue was finally resolved. Almost ...
Although the cart is working, it is now on the opposite side of the store from the entrance. So someone who has trouble walking and needs to use the electric cart, has to WALK and weave around displays, check-out aisles and more to get to the cart. Why is...
Read moreI was so excited because I finally lived where an Aldi's location was close by. This store is very very small. As soon as you walk in you are greeted with produce. Every single customer in the store was hovering at the produce section. You couldn't even get your carriage through and the people refused to move, afraid that someone might take their produce. One women was digging through a bag of grapes saying that she didn't want a full bag as she was eating the grapes out of the bag. An employee was trying to stock and proceeded to rudely plow through all of the customers with boxes in her hands. She banged into a customer pretty hard and didn't even bother to apologize. The only produce that I found that was cheaper than Market Basket was the strawberries. They do have a package of hamburgers with 10 for $ 10.00, we cooked those on the grill, and they were actually pretty good. We also got maple breakfast sausage and those were also delicious. Stay away from the hotdogs. They had to have been the worst meat that I have ever had. Milk was about the same price as Market Basket. The only other item I found that was cheaper were the eggs, they were still over $ 2.00 though. They have several self checkouts that did not take cash and 1 actual cashier. I'm pretty sure there were only 2 employees in the entire store. There cold/hot bags were terrible. Way to tall and not wide enough to be able to bag properly. This store is just like Save a Lot but not as good. Too bad Save a Lot wasn't in this area anymore. Sorry Aldi's you missed the mark and I...
