Been here a few times to buy some pricier Magic cards. The selection and presentation is really good, and the staff is attentive when needed, and polite. I've always loved that they have lots of single cards in binders and boxes to look through self-directed and it has been fun to find an occasional deal here and there, one of the big advantages to a brick and mortar store vs shopping online as you'll often end up finding (and spending) more than you expected.
The only mark against them for me is a recent experience just that I found it a bit wweird Recently I wanted to buy a card in the case for a few bucks, then after spending some time looking through the singles, found 5 of them in a 25 cent binder. I figured it would be helpful to let them know the binders had some expensive cards in them as prices have appreciated so I pointed this specific card out, but it didn't feel too great to just end up paying full price for the one card I wanted anyway. I managed a comic and game store for a few years and this is a situation we experienced often. When a customer found expensive cards in our bulk and let us know, we usually cut them some kind of a deal, as they were basically working for us for free at that point and our cost basis for the cards were low if they appreciated on the shelf after we acquired them anyway. After all, the customer could have just said nothing. Not a super big deal, but something just didn't feel right, especially as I overheard them talking about the possibly of giving me a bit of a deal as they've "done it in the past" and then someone turning it down while I was within earshot, typing their answer on the computer screen for the other employees to read. Might be a good time to just officially overhaul the policy on bulk singles to avoid hiccups like this in the future. Bulk stuff can be hard to manage, but it has a drawing effect on bringing some folks in, and I'll admit its why I've come back to spend more in the past year.
I still really think this is a good store though, probably one of the best tabletop stores in New England, and definitely New Hampshire. They have lots of space and keep the store very clean. They are also not far from the highway. I hear they are getting into retro games soon which is pretty exciting. It can be a hard product to acquire and carry but will definitely help them stand...
Read moreIf you are looking to play magic cards in the Nashua area, look elsewhere. Its sad because Relentless Dragon has the potential to be a great venue for tabletop gaming. It has a decent amount of room to play comfortably, they run a lot of events, and have a decent singles selection.
But in reality, the Dragon is one of the filthiest card shops you can imagine. I love to game. I understand that most gaming shops are not always the most attractive places to go to, but the Relentless Dragon is flat out gross.
When you open the door to the shop, the smell is strong enough to send you back home. Its a combination of the massive amount of trash overflowing in the barrels (pizza, fried food, soda), body odor (Ventilation is non existent here), and dogs. (apparently they allow pets.)
The bathroom is completely horrible. It is un-useable if you are a female. The owner of this business should be embarrassed.
The staff that work here seem to hate their jobs. They are certainly not interested in keeping the shop clean or being nice to repeat customers. It's the type of place where on a Friday night, you will find a 17 year old kid in charge of the place, hanging out behind the counter with his girlfriend, playing warcraft. If you need something, be prepared to wait for them.

Read moreI've been to The Relentless Dragon quite a few times over the years and this last time I went I noticed a large, versatile inventory of table top, card, and other eccentric games, and gaming supplies. I was very pleased with the customer service and I regrettably forget the employee's name, however they were very knowledgeable about what was asked about inventory related questions, as well as competently explaining the difference between, and changes made to the inventory in question.
I purchased five Magic the Gathering play mats, and a friend bought a box of magic cards. I enjoy supporting local businesses who are customer centric and can professionally market their goods and services without me feeling guilty for taking their time. I felt like the cashier went out of their way to assist and educate me on the new magic boxes and the advantages and intended uses of the few different options. That was pivotal for this sale because the friend with me was a brand new collector, and I am not versed in the new sets. After the cashier explained with perfect detail the differences, the correct decision was made. The friend is also a happy and satisfied customer, so we both thank the cashier and The Relentless Dragon for another...
