Ever Since the owner Putzi passed away, the business has really gone downhill. The people working here haven't skied in 10 years and really don't understand the good vs. bad of equipment, except for what the equipment reps tell them to tell you. They don't value loyalty or long term customers at all.
They are really focused on $$. The rentals are low quality and more expensive than you can get off site from the resorts. If you have a season rental, they close their shop end of March so that it's impossible to return without getting a late fee. Plus you have to store their equipment over the summer. Note on ski gear for sale - very low quality - off brand too. While prices are a little lower for coats, you get what you pay for - you will be better off getting something that will keep you warm and last for years vs. a cold jacket that is a throwaway.
There are many better choices out there - make a few calls and find a way to save some money and get a better quality ski. Plus - this location is so far out of the way in a terrible part of New Castle you will waste half a day driving, getting fitted and getting...
Read moreMy father and I just left Putzi for an awful experience with poor sales etiquette. We walked in because schools had advised, with very affordable prices of ski rentals. That is not the case when you go in, a lady working was trying to push on my father and I to buy $400 skis when we asked for rentals. My father had said he is not sure about buying complete set right now, due to prices being higher than said on paper, printed by their own company, Putzi. My father then goes onto his phone to look at prices online of other places, the lady had asked him not to do that because it isn’t fair to them. It is completely fair, thank you. My father did nothing wrong, we are looking for good expenses and not 400 skis when we asked to see the rentals for 120-170$. Sales-workers ruin their own sales and commitment by trying to boss customers around. Don’t waste your time trying to get good prices here on rentals! P.S. don’t use phones in...
Read moreThats place is a Gem and so are the people. Fair, honest, helpful, enjoyable, engaging, down right funny, and loving. It belongs on a romantic comedy Christmas movie set, but also in the actual Alps because they really know what they are doing. I can’t recommend this place highly enough. When people say “buy local from a mom and pop shop” this is what everyone imagines. I’ll be submitting their photo to Merriam-friggin-Webster’s to be put in the dictionary next to “mom-and-pop-shop”. Its quirky and professional and everything you...
