Make sure you don’t fall for a Conditional Discharge, the judge told me that if I complete the terms of the unconditional discharge that my case WILL BE DISMISSED and won’t reflect on my record it’s literally on the court room recording. So I took the deal and after the year I see the case is still there of course it is, so I try to motion to re open the case because he lied straight to my face to get me to plea guilty and then I’m told the court no longer has jurisdiction to hear my case after 120 days but no one else can help me. It blows my mind how you can be lied too and told everything will be ok after a year but after 120 days your screwed out of fixing the situation of being misled and intentionally misinformed. So if a judge tells you the same thing make sure you tell them to be clear and truthful about what they are saying because they make it sound good but it’s all a lie and a judge should not be able to confuse you or mislead you but that’s just the “justice” system in this state I won’t say this country because it’s literally different in every state but CT just destroys your record and when you can’t function in Society because of it your out of luck. Then they come out with the “second chance act” yet the terms literally don’t reach out to anyone and the people it should help it does nothing for. It says class E felonies and low crime charges can be erased yet they mind as well say you have to wait 20 years after your most recent conviction! If your going to pass a law to help people lose minor charges that are ruining their lives then just do it and help people don’t just make people feel like there’s hope to fix their life when it’s unattainable. This state is a joke and the legal/justice system is a sham. They threw a felony at a kid and 11 years later haven’t been able to get a real job because of it. What blows my mind is that they changed the law for what I got my felony for 2 months! After I got the charge and now it’s only a misdemeanor charge if the law changes then your charge should change with it how is it fair I’m dealing with a felony when now everyone gets a slap on the wrist for the SAME thing. All I can do is shake my head at how pathetic this joke of a system is and I find it funny that judges and prosecutors think they are people of importance when really they are the main reason for the state and country going down the tubes because they just ruine peoples lives with charges they don’t need to prosecute or push for and then their mad when people who can’t get a job do crimes to get money to survive.
