The Hunt — Local services in New Milford

This is a different kind of review, (and overdue) as my family sold to Gina last spring; but I think it’s important as I’m sure many families in the area go through the difficult task of going through loved ones’ homes that have passed away. My grandparents passed away and my dad and his brother had a very difficult time letting go of the belongings in my grandparents’ home and just were letting the home and what was in it sit un touched for years. The time came when things needed to be gone through, and while so many of the pieces in my grandparent’s home were special to us and held such fond memories to us all, you can’t hold onto them all. Gina was absolutely AMAZING and so patient with my dad in going through pieces he would part with. He felt so comfortable with her and knew that having her put them in her store, would bring joy to many other families who see them and buy them. It’s so much better than these pieces that meant so much collecting dust and just sitting, or being stored away to never be enjoyed again. If you have an estate/filled vintage home of a deceased family member to go through, there is no one else I could recommend higher than Gina. She is so patient, respectful, kind, and truly passionate about antiques and unique housewares. My boyfriend and I happened to come across The Hunt last October as we were walking around New Milford waiting to return someone’s lost phone to them! Had we not have been waiting, we would’ve completely missed out on one of the best shops in all of New England. We were on a two-week New England tour, and CT was our last state to visit. I just had to visit New Milford for it being part of Gilmore Girl’s inspiration! This was the best antique shop we have EVER come across. An incredible hidden gem in this little town, and it makes the town that much more special. Gina’s attention to detail, kind and friendly service, and overall true talent at curation left us speechless. The entire shop feels purposefully magical with so many beautiful and thoughtfully organized odds and ends that tell so many stories. I will forever recommend The Hunt to anyone visiting New England, and we can’t wait to go back. We think about the shop at least...

We saw this store on an Instagram and made the trip from the Bridgeport area. I am SO GLAD we did. This store is a gem. So quaint. So fun. So well curated. Like stepping back in time to many eras of yesteryear. Yet there’s a lot of fun little trinkets, toys and treasures. It’s like visiting a flea market or your grandmas attic except it’s clean and so well presented. It’s dog friendly and the owner was so kind to dogs and their humans. Downstairs was filled with quality vintage clothing but well priced and clean. If you’re a collector or just love perusing this is a great store to spend an hour in.
