While on vacation I procrastinated and didn't bother searching for a nice gift for my wife until about an hour before our ferry was to depart. I stopped at a couple of stores searching for something memorable and cool to remember this trip by, but I really couldn't find anything unique. The last stop was the Glass Onion. A charming little shop that had a little bit of everything, but not all of the same old touristy stuff. They carry a few paintings from local artists that I was immediately drawn to. Turns out that the piece I really liked was actually painted by the shopkeeper's father. It was also framed using washed up wood from one of the beaches. It's the perfect gift! One can always find something special and unique, something that will make your life a little sweeter, but this is not exactly the place to look for souvenirs of Block Island. Mary and Rita are beautiful souls, always willing to help, chat, whatever.
