This is the only Aldi’s in the Bronx with a parking lot (because it’s part of a strip mall) so kudos for that. But, as with many things in the Bronx it leaves much to be desired. I’ve been to Aldi’s all over Nee York State. And upstate NY ones are SO MUCH better. You’ll need to get to this location as soon as it opens on weekends in order to score veggies and fruits as well as bread and eggs/dairy. Later in it’s a bizarre feeding frenzy. The lines are VERY long. But, as with all Aldi’s their prices beat Stop & Shop, Trader Joe’s, Food Bazaar, Food Town, Target Supermarkets, and EVEN Walmart supermarkets. However, be forewarned that Ghetto attitude among employees exists here. And the BIG issue is this location has an absolutely outrageously illegal (and I can tell you with 100% certainty NOT condoned by Aldi corporate office) policy of TAKING YOUR CART and EMPTYING IT! Yes, you read that correctly. If they see a cart unattended (meaning you’ve just left it parked in one location to keep it out of high traffic aisles and walked away to get something) they’re employees will empty ALL items from your cart and RE SHELVE them!!! No, I am not joking. And forget about the manager- a young woman in her VERY early twenties who has no ability or care to resolve customer issues. Aldi’s is a German based company. I have been to at least three in Germany. I can tell you the owners and managers would completely be embarrassed by how these inner city stores are run or the way they’re employees act. But, if your looking for the best deals they are here and they also carry organic products. You absolutely get your money’s worth as long as you have a high tolerance for ghettoville attitude and a complete lack of customer service. Let’s give you an example- the first supermarket I’ve ever been in where the employees will push you out of the way to restock a shelf rather than move for you, the customer, to grab the item you need. How would you like that experience? Bottom line- get in quick first hour they open in the AM and get out quick. Before it becomes feeding...
Read moreFirst of all, with inflation affecting most consumers- I don’t appreciate spending a quarter for use of one squeaky shopping cart before entering into the store itself. Really? What if I don’t find what I need to purchase? Do you refund my admission fee? That being said, once I pushed my way inside with the rush hour traffic of shopping carts- the prices are not bad at all. For the best results I have learned to practice being deliberately focused on my shopping list; quickly and quietly placing my items inside the cart. As I push through the traffic of people, II continue shoving through the four or five isles where no help from employees is part of this deal. Finally and/or hopefully ready to pay at one of the cashier lines, preferably seeking a human being actually operating a register. Remember to bring your own shopping bags for organizing my mindful checkout process. I placed my groceries in my shopping bags, requested my receipt and shoved my way back outside, following another traffic of carts towards my car. I’m home, saved about thirty dollars worth of groceries by quantity. I’m also tired and hyper vigilant from being so stressed for the past few hours enduring a journey of sorts. I don’t recommend this business for anyone who is either mild mannered, short tempered, or unwilling to embrace patience galore. Be prepared and know without understanding that this is how we do it...
Read moreI find that this place is often a mess and the staff are very rude and unprofessional, down right unfriendly bad place to work if you're going to work in the service industry now to a more pressing issue I have noticed over the last several months from purchasing from this store faithfully Yes the prices on produce are very affordable but with that being said I feel that this particular location or Aldi's as a company is selling expired or ready to expire produce I have consistently seen my produce oranges apples lemons expire or start to grow mold days after purchasing them and I mean 2 days 3 days after purchasing them there is some level of issue with the produce that this location is buying I think buyers should beware I know we are all suffering a high rate of inflation and things are expensive but that should not lessen the quality of food that the American population should be receiving I find it to be extremely unacceptable to buy fresh produce and two days later it's growing mold or fungus or rottening and it's just a waste of money though I purchased it at a reduced price I hope that this review opens the eyes of my community and Aldi's does something about it and when they receive new products or produce that they will refrain from buying items that are on the verge of expiration and then selling it to the public and then pretend that they're doing us a favor by selling...
