Bluemercury — Local services in New York

I have never written a review for a retailer before. Certainly not a positive one. In fact, my experience with the majority of retailers is extremely negative which is why I choose to shop more and more online. However, I recently had a wonderful exception. It was at Blue Mercury. The store at 341 Amsterdam, NYC. I was having a difficult time deciding what products I needed. I asked a million questions and tried several samples. The whole while, the staff was patience and helpful. One salesperson in particular really went above and beyond. Her name is Chanel. I highly recommend asking for her if you are there. Not only was she extremely knowledgeable, but she also made excellent recommendations and suggestions. I felt really confident in her understanding of my needs and her sincere concern we find the right things. When I mentioned it was my birthday, she really went out of her way to make me feel special. Her timing was perfect; I really needed that boost that day. She’s awesome. I can’t share enough accolades about her. I’ve actually visited 3 locations in the past 3 weeks. At the UWS location, Amira, helped me. She had USED all of the products I was interested in and gave me honest, practical advice. My subsequent experience w/said products has been: 1) as she predicted; and 2) very satisfying. Just last week I ventured over to the east side to find a popular and frequently out-of-stock, pot of finishing cream. At 75th, a visiting stylist made a call to 68th. When I arrived at 68th, I was warmly received and was in and out in a flash. Knowledgeable, complete, and friendly service at Blue Mercury is really appreciated! ...

I went in looking for a specific cream. The two women working there wouldn't even look at me when I walked in but kept on talking about their lunch, then when I asked about the cream one of them acted as if I was interrupting her conversation and was very rude when she was "helping" me. I asked her to stop talking to me like that and she told me I was being "very nasty" because I told her the cream she was showing me wasn't the one I was looking for.
