A Must-Visit for Families – Truly Unforgettable!

As a father of two, we’ve explored numerous natural history museums across various states and countries. However, our recent visit to the American Museum of Natural History in New York, especially its new Richard Gilder Center, stands out as the most impressive.

Entering through the Gilder Center, we were immediately captivated by its unique architectural design. The exhibits are modern and interactive, offering fresh perspectives on natural history.

One highlight was the “Invisible Worlds” immersive experience. This exhibit brilliantly showcases the unseen connections in nature, allowing visitors to interact with projections that respond to movement, making complex scientific concepts accessible and engaging for children.

The Allison and Roberto Mignone Halls of Gems and Minerals were astonishing. The vast collection of rare gems and minerals, including the renowned Star of India sapphire, offers a dazzling display that fascinated both adults and kids alike.

We also explored the Milstein Hall of Ocean Life, where the iconic 94-foot-long blue whale model suspended from the ceiling left us in awe. The surrounding dioramas of marine life provided an immersive underwater experience.

For those interested in the cosmos, the Rose Center for Earth and Space is a must-see. The Hayden Planetarium offers captivating shows about the universe’s origins, making complex astronomical concepts digestible for younger audiences.

Given the museum’s vastness and the depth of its exhibits, I’d recommend allocating at least two to three days to fully appreciate everything. Consider becoming a member for added benefits and to support this incredible institution.

An unparalleled educational and immersive experience. It’s a treasure trove of knowledge that captivates visitors of all ages. Highly recommended for families seeking fun learning to invoke your children’s curiosity...

Exploring the science center at this museum is a truly awe-inspiring experience that captivates visitors of all ages with its interactive exhibits, hands-on activities, and engaging displays. From budding young scientists to seasoned enthusiasts, there is something for everyone to enjoy and learn from in this dynamic and educational space.

One of the highlights of the science center is its commitment to making complex scientific concepts accessible and fun for visitors. Through interactive exhibits that encourage experimentation and exploration, guests are able to immerse themselves in the wonders of the natural world, from the mysteries of outer space to the marvels of the human body.

The hands-on activities available at the science center provide a unique opportunity for visitors to engage with scientific principles in a tangible and memorable way. There is no shortage of opportunities to ignite curiosity and spark creativity.

In addition to its interactive exhibits, the science center also features knowledgeable staff and educators who are passionate about sharing their love of science with visitors. Their enthusiasm and expertise enhance the overall experience, turning a visit to the museum into a truly enriching and inspiring journey through the wonders of the natural world.

Overall, the science center at this museum is a must-visit destination for anyone with a thirst for knowledge and a sense of wonder about the world around them. Its engaging exhibits, hands-on activities, and knowledgeable staff make it a standout attraction that promises to educate, entertain, and inspire all who step...

The brand new Gilder Center at the Natural History Museum is so much fun! The design is super fresh and modern, with tons of interactive exhibits. Inside, you'll find an insectarium, a butterfly conservatory, and stunning floor-to-ceiling displays of museum collections. It’s seamlessly connected to the original four floors of the museum, creating a space that’s both beautiful and full of discovery.

🌞 Connected, Related, Communicating

I really loved the way the new exhibit panels are written — simple, clear, and super relatable. They use clever questions to spark curiosity and explain science in a way that feels personal. A big theme is how everything in nature is connected. One quote really stuck with me:

“The sun is millions of miles away, but its energy is in every bite you eat.”

🐝 Be Part of the Story There are tons of interactive digital experiences throughout the space. One standout is the special exhibit Invisible Worlds, which takes you on an immersive journey from the San Diego Bay to Central Park, from ecosystems to social networks — all showing how life on Earth is deeply interconnected.

The Gilder Center blends science education with visual and sensory wonder — it's a perfect mix of learning and fun. A must-visit if you have kids! It’s the kind of place that sparks curiosity and makes you feel more connected to the world...
