I had a very mixed experience. When I bought my dress everyone was so helpful and supportive. I bought the first dress I tried on and left with it same day. Everything was fine before alterations. I returned when instructed by the store with my dress. I was prepared mentally and monetarily for alterations. At my first fitting we gave them $600 and watched the owner write down on our receipt “Paid $600.” We’d left the appointment, walked down the street to the bank, came back, and handed them the cash, a whole process that they were well aware of. Our 1st mistake was not asking for a copy of it. In our first fitting I didn’t have my shoes yet (they were aware prior) so we focused on the top of the dress. I needed my removable sleeves sized and attached to the dress since I didn’t plan to remove them at my wedding. My arms weren’t measured but I was reassured it would be fine. A couple months later we came back for the second fitting with my shoes. We were surprised to see that nothing had been done to the sleeves. We realized that I’d bought the wrong undergarments for the dress which was 100% my mistake and made the dress fit weirdly at the top. They pinned some of the bottom of my dress for my height in the shoes but not all the way around one side, and still my arms weren’t measured. The owner then told us that the dress would need a ton of work. In that same breath she asked my mother if she had a dress for my wedding. We sat on that for a day before calling during their listed business hours and having a hard time getting ahold of anyone. When we expressed concern over the timeline with everything that needed to be done we were told that everything was fine and I only needed one more fitting despite what we were told by the owner quite literally two days prior. Calling was our second mistake. I had a weird feeling so we showed up the next day to take my dress and request at least a majority refund (nothing other than pinning was done). When we arrived, we were given the dress and looked it over. Other than a couple pins in the bottom, one sleeve was now sewn onto the dress (arms still not measured). When I tried it on at home, the sleeve didn’t fit. We were reassured that we’d be given our full refund but we had to come back Saturday, they didn’t have the cash. This was Wednesday. We agreed and came back with our initial receipt and the receipt that was in our garment bag that we had never seen until picking up the dress. The owner counted out $600 in cash, paused, and asked for the receipt. We handed her what we had, she turned over the receipt that had magically came into existence when we were unhappy and it said “Paid $300” on the back. The owner stated that we only gave her $300. We reminded her of our full payment. She filed through two binders of receipts and said that she didn’t have her copy of our receipt anymore and that she apparently throws out receipts after a certain amount of time, despite the literal binders in front of us. A girl that worked there stated that she remembered that we had paid in full multiple times while we were standing there, but the owner was insistent that we did not and it was proof on the “receipt” that we only paid $300. She even said that if she had anything that said that we had paid $600 she would give it to us. We left with the $300 and cut our loses after a very calm discussion that continued to go in circles with promises that she would “try to find our receipt and call us.” I waited a month before posting this following multiple phone calls to see if they would make this right and we could end amicably. I am not one to post reviews unless I feel strongly and have literally never posted a negative review of any business. I’m posting this because I feel cheated. I trusted that they were working in my best interest which turned out to be wrong. I posted a timeline of what happened to help people shopping here moving forwards. After reading other reviews here, I can see I’m not the only one that had everything go wrong when they got to...
Read moreon behalf of the response from the owner, I would like to say that most of your statement is just a lie. I would like to start with the price of the dress. The original cost was not $2000 IT WAS $1700 so the discount was $200. As far as the alterations go, I was offered no cost because of how many times I had to drive out to Staten Island from NJ to have alterations done. Not because of "me wanting to just come try on the dress" but because Bossina (your mother, the owner) was not able to get it right the first 3 times. Every single time it was TOO LOOSE, not too tight, so again, please get your facts straight. My cousin, who is who you are referring too when you say "Nancy" was disgusted, so please do not try to say that she was taking your side.
Next, You never shipped any dresses to Jersey. I had to come pick them all up 3 days before my wedding because you couldnt get it right. That day there were still padding and some alterations missing and i had to sit there and wait for Bossina to finish them. 3 DAYS BEFORE MY WEDDING AT 8 AT NIGHT!!!
As for the actual bridesmaid dresses, We went to another store and found the dresses there. Bossina insisted on us ordering them through her. She said "i will give you a better price. order them through me, dont go there, they are not a good shop!" She knocked off $30 a dress and told us to do the alterations through her because then all the dresses would be the same. She altered them too short! Three of my girls had their dresses above their ankles. it looked ridiculous! and my Maid of honor paid extra for a belt that fell off halfway through the night.
Finally, my bridesmaid. She left you a $100 deposit for the dress which you were able to keep when she didnt pick up the dress. I found out the same week you did that she was dropping out. THATS WHAT A DEPOSIT IS FOR. You threatened, 3 days before my wedding, to keep my dress and all the other bridesmaid dresses, which were PAID IN FULL, if you didnt receive the other $50 that was owed on a dress that was not mine. I never signed anything claiming responsibility for the other dresses that were not mine!!!
Let me also mention that you tried to sell my veil to someone else because they would pay more then what i paid. Bossina ordered me a cheap veil that was nothing like my veil and HID MY VEIL UNDER THE COUNTER!!! She first tried to tell me that we waited to long to order the veil when we ordered it 4 months in advance, which she said was plenty of time and i didnt have to worry. She saw how upset I was and she finally "found it" and said that someone else must have put it there and she will make sure to yell at that person. The price tag was changed with an amount that over $150 more then what i was paying for the veil. Mind you, the veil was off the rack! and i still paid full price.
Lets just top this off with the fact that my dress also fell apart before the party even started. My cousin, Who you keep calling "Nancy", had to sew me up 3 times that night in the bathroom.
After i wrote a review about this horrific experience , Bossina's daughter sent me a message on instagram, cursing at me telling me that i was ungrateful for everything they did for me.
Please take responsibility for your poor workmanship and apologize instead of trying to find every excuse in the world as to why its okay to take advantage of brides during the most stressful/happy time of their lives. you should both be ashamed of yourselves. I just hope no one has to endure this the week of their wedding which is the only reason why i am writing back to these unprofessional thieves. Please save yourself the stress and go...
