City Fresh Market — Local services in New York

The staff are usually nice and friendly. Yet today Ydalysis who seems not to understand very well and I had a problem because my card was locked and I forgot. Yet she flung her hand at me like I was a problem and then this flamboyant man came over and said he was the manager after I asked for one and didn’t even allow me to see the register paper, I f I would have seen declined because I just came from the bank and don’t go into any store to play I would have realized that my card was locked. Now I shared it with another young lady who works there and she said it was a misunderstanding. I told her that if the manager would have said that to me it could have been a different experience for all of us. . It bothers me that stores don’t realize that you don’t have to like your customers but you do have to be courteous. Then the customer behind me said something in Spanish. I understand that we are in Spanish Harlem but everyone doesn’t speak Spanish . If the supermarkets are only for Spanish customers let it be known and I will shop other places. I don’t go to the supermarket by me because of how nasty the workers are especially to people who aren’t Hispanic. This must end . There are some stores who get it right but they actually turned my stomach for the same thing that goes on in most of these supermarkets in Spanish Harlem.They are nice and bend over backwards for Spanish speaking customers and Caucasian customers but are very nasty to Black customers....

My husband and i are interracial. Im vegan and my husband buys great vegetables from here. I have a disability and hardly leave my home. Anxiety and depression keep me from going out. My husband pleaded twice with me to go get coffee from your regular female barrista and sit at your wonderful tables. The first time she was very clearly milking out a small order from another Spanish person. We stood for 15 minutes before my anxiety became too much. We went home. The second time no customers before us. She said in a rude tone , "You have to wait!" Why ? We even tried a third time just getting me to experience being around other people. Mind you i was stabbed this past July with a butchers knife from a mentally ill woman for no apparent reason. So you can understand my apprehension and aggravated anxiety. So the third time she said, " Cant you read read the sign!" And then we saw a closed sign conveniently on the counter. Dear store manager and employees, i would really like to enjoy coffee at your store. Cant you please do something to make my experience pleasant with this barrista ??? It would mean a lot to improve my mental health. Im feeling that since we dont speak the common language around here were really treated like outcasts at most Spanish run stores. We like every race and are truly nice good people new to your neighborhood since November. Cant i please get a coffee with niceness instead of walikng out three times due to...

Buyer beware...

I have been in the store on occasions where I have seen the night manager get into disagreements with shoppers due to him removing the sticker price off of an item, and then wanting to charge a higher price. Well tonight I was a victim of that same behavior. Not only did he remove the sticker that listed the price he then proceed to show me some price online which was much higher and tell me that was the price take it or leave it. So I left it!

This is not the 1st time that I have been taken back by his actions... There was a time that I purchased chicken and it was spoiled so I retuned it. One item was over a week past due and the other was around 3 or 4 days (the one that was only a few days over due I was told it should be fine and I had to insist on a refund) past due. So please make sure you check your dates on your purchases and GO WITH him when he goes to do a "price" check because he will switch the price on you if he can get away with it. I will now do my grocery shopping...
