Country Butcher — Local services in New York

I used to go here for major shopping but I never go again. If I go here it's to spend $2 maximum! I don't know what's up with the female cashiers but experiences with both have been awful. The younger one raised her voice at me because I didn't tell her my SNAP card balance would not cover the entire purchase, ( I was prepared for the difference with my bank card.) .. So she's upset because she had to run it again??? At other places I don't need to tell them anything. The mature female cashier... I went there with my male friend. I got to counter first and gave a pleasant greeting, which was ignored. TOTALLY. I know they speak Spanish in there and I assumed she didn't understand English. I was about to greet her in Spanish, but at the same time My friend comes up, says HEY she responds and asks how are you. What? He is a generous tipper, He's a business owner and receives tips so he pays it forward by tipping also. And he's been shopping there for years as his business is nearby. Basically, I don't tip so I don't get acknowledged nor respected. On leaving, she wishes him a great weekend. Well look at that. The shopper on the other line noticed the entire thing and shook her head. That's it. Never returning. One star because the male workers are very kind and polite. Even when I'm just passing outside and they're tending to the exterior stalls...

Hector who runs daily operations there is always helpful, informative, and very courteous and kind. The store is always very clean with an inviting atmosphere. Most stores have the music 🎶 way to loud or a genre of music not really conducive to the easygoing shopping experience that u get when shopping in this neighborhood staple. The cashiers are very polite, patient, and quite frankly a pleasure to interact with. My Family and I have been shopping in Country Butcher since the days they were on the other side of the street with sawdust on the floor like Butcher shops used to have. Meats are pretty fresh you pay more though and some good sales but when I checked out the deli it looked like old salads so I did not order any maybe it was too early before they freshened things up? Cat food should not be more than 50 cents a can they have friskies for 79 cents and frozen foods are like $2 over priced but it's closer to me than key food or mango so I can walk there and it's neat and clean as far as...
