Giving 2 stars to average out my two visits. My first visit was a 4. Got a simple name tattoo on the rib. I was a walk in and the artist was accommodating even though creating the stencil took about 45 minutes, The final product was what I wanted.
So. I decided to go back. My husband made an appointment on my behalf since I lost my phone. We arrived 7 minutes late to the appointment. The artist was notified when we arrived. It took 22 minutes for the artist to even address us. So at that point, we were 29 minutes into the appointment. When the artist did finally address us, I asked what time the appointment was due to start (I mean I must be missing somethingā¦). I was very directly told that I was late⦠So my 7 minutes late apparently justified not being addressed for another 22 minutes.
But itās okay, guys! While my husband and I waited for 22 minutes, I was privy to some amazing (and very loud and slightly inappropriate ) stories of coworkers who are expecting kids, who are upset because they have kids and one coworker was in a bad mood and abruptly threw a customers gift away. It wasā¦inviting. I had to stand outside after 12 minutes.
Anyway, after being told I was late, we decided to still move forward. UNTIL one of the owners abruptly advised us that my husband couldnāt stay because it was too crowded. Yes sir, it was crowded by your crude conversation. Pipe down next time. We made an appointment but I overheard a worker saying that āthey donāt realize [my artist] was going to be in today.ā Cool way to run a business!
So we asked for a refund of the deposit. At first we were told we didnāt leave one. We did. My husband then had to go back to ensure heād get a refund but the artist āwent for a walkā and they typically donāt provide refunds.
After a week, my husband received a refund minuses the taxes he incurred through the online site.
Listen, Iām sure there are some amazingly talented artists here. But when youāre messy and treat customers like trash, potential customers should know.
Youāre welcome in advance.
Update: if youāre curious which tattoo artist, just see all the āpositiveā reviews that magically appeared over the last week to amp this person up all of a sudden. š Convenient. Updating...

Something is up with this place, the vibe is incredibly bad. I suspect this is the kind of studio that cycles through new artists at a high turnover, giving them initial experience, but making that experience tense and disappointing for both artists and clients.
Like some other one star reviewers, I got a very small, simple tattoo (my first) at Electric Anvil and came back for a custom piece. Our cat who had just passed, was a tortoiseshell and I wanted a paw print with the unique coloration of her skin (looked a little like a black and white cookie). I emailed the studio in advance with extensive pictures and concerns, asking if they thought it was possible. The receptionist agreed it would be, but when we arrived it was apparent that the artist had not even been shown the email, let alone familiarized themselves with it. I should have just walked away then, but I was too nervous and felt committed.
They did not ask any questions about coloration or design, just reassured me they knew what they were doing. They used way too much pink, the patterning is VERY loosely similar to my cat's paw, but overall I was very disappointed in the color/design and even moreso in the lack of communication. There were also places where the tattoo was deeply painful, like the artist had gone over the same spot with the multi-needle attachment several times and essentially gauged into my thigh.
After the tattoo was finished, the artist... disappeared. Immediately went to the back room before I could even make sure my venmo had gone through. It felt like they didn't want to wait for me to look at my new ink too hard. They also bandaged me with something like a menstrual pad rather than a second skin, which felt both cumbersome and less hygienic.
As the tattoo has healed in the last year it has become heavily scarred, raised tissue; the color has softened somewhat, but the lines are very shaky in some places and I still intend to have it color corrected. Definitely...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe ABSOLUTE WORST EXPERIENCE! If I could give a ZERO it would have been done. I live in North Carolina. I had my sister call and setup an appointment for her, myself and my niece to get tattoos today. She spoke with Vincent, all was set and we were told to be there by 4pm. We arrived a little early at 3:30pm. After discussing pricing for the art we wanted (Which I had to change my initial Tattoo that I wanted because Vincent told me I would need an appointment to get that particular one done!). I said let's do my second choice. I was preliminary quoted $500 then after drawing it up I was quoted $700. Again I said let's do it and I would make an appointment on 7/25 to get the initial choice completed (as my flight leaves tomorrow). My sister and my niece finally selected their final tattoos to be drafted and agreed on pricing about 30mins later. After waiting outside for 1 1/2 hours and observing Vincent walking out the shop to retrieve paper towels from the grocery store. My niece asked him what was the wait time. He comes outside and stated, "Their tattoos were about to be next." I asked abt mine and he said, "That mine would need an appointment because it would take 3 hours and they close @8" ... Which he stated,"It would take 3hrs @4:15pm" when I selected my 2nd choice. Therefore I opted out of us spending $1400 plus dollars on family tattoos based on the unprofessionalism and unpleasant experience as a 1st time visitor to this establishment. Worthless WASTE of 2 1/2 hours of my trip in Brooklyn and my families time..Thanks for nothing but a waste of...
