Went with my parents who came to visit me in Brooklyn. We couldn't find any parking to go to IHOP on Church Ave, so I remembered another diner I frequented in the past before COVID. That was Neptune. I was sure they had alfresco dining, which is what you want to do, until COVID is a thing of the past. We found a spot easily. They did not have parking, but we found one on the street. I never had breakfast from there but the dinners I ordered in the past were decent. All of the outdoor seating was taken, so we decided to eat inside. There was a temperature scanner and all our temperatures were checked and my dad signed our names in a book and we were seated in a booth. My dad had banana walnut pancakes w bacon. Three pancakes came in the order. The bacon was really good! I had a challah French toast w bacon and my daughter had chocolate chip pancakes w bacon. My mom had avocado toast. I didn't take pics, cause I am out of the habit of reporting. Everyone enjoyed their meal. My dad has a big issue with High Fructose corn syrup. He regards it as poison. The syrup packets were made with HFC, so he got honey instead. I can be a bit snobby kike him and don't like to eat spreads that masquerade as butter! I prefer real butter so I just drizzled some honey on mine. The French Toast wasn't sweet enough to be eaten with a little bit of honey, but the bacon made up for it. Should have had the avocado toast in hindsight. The restaurant was clean and the food was decent. The prices averaged about $20 a person w drinks included. On the way out I ogled someone else"s home fries, they looked good. Overall a pleasant experience. My dad insisted on paying. First, let’s start with the food: greasy, overcooked and unseasoned. I ordered the chicken fajita wrap and it was poorly made. There was oil literally dripping from the wrap. The pieces of meat and vegetables were chopped too largely so there wasn’t an even mix of all the ingredients in each bite. I would take one bite and it was all green peppers. Another bite and it’s all avocado. The chicken was grilled but not at all seasoned. It didn’t even taste like they added salt and pepper to the meat.
My sister ordered the Neptune sampler and the “buffalo” wings were not even spicy. They were saltier than anything. The wings were so over fried that it cut up the top of her mouth. The chicken tenders were also kind of dry.
Let’s move on to the service: mediocre. At first the service was ok. Our server took our order quickly and we got the food in a decent amount of time. But when it was time to go we had to wait SO long to get the check, even though there were not that many other customers and our server was just standing around. After we finally got the check, we had another long wait before someone came to take our cards. Our server finally came and got the check and our cards, then an old man returned them to us. He literally stood over us watching us as we signed the receipts. And it made me VERY uncomfortable that we had to wait so long to get our check and pay but then he stood over us waiting for us to sign. I asked him for a to-go box and he kind of just looked at me like he didn’t understand what I was saying.

I was placed on hold for about 10 minutes which I was patient because I figured the restaurant was packed for Sunday Brunch. After waiting the guy comes back to the phone at which time I placed my order. I informed him that I was using my bank card. HE PLACES ME BACK ON HOLD........ Why did I do that??!! THE GENTLEMAN BECAME BALLISTIC YELLING, MRS., MRS., I HAVE CUSTOMERS! MY STORE IS CROWDED! AND PLACES ME BACK ON HOLD FOR EXACTLY 17 MINUTES.. I PURPOSELY WAITED SO I CAN NOW GIVE HIM ME A PIECE OF MY MIND! BUT HE NEVER RETURNED BACK TO THE PHONE. SO AFTER A NIGHT OF HANGING OUT IM STARVING! I decided to place my order online through Postmates. I finally get my order about 1.5 HRS LATER THE YOUNG LADY WHO DELIVERED THE FOOD STATES THE SAME GENTLEMAN “JIMMY” WAS RUDE, DISRESPECTFUL, AND MADE HER FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE! THE YOUNG LADY NOT KNOWING WHAT I JUST WENT THROUGH WITH “JIMMY”, which is the name he gave me WHEN I ASKED FOR THE MANAGER AND STATED HE IS THE MGR.!!, HAD NOTHING BUT UNPLEASANTRIES TO DESCRIBE HER ENCOUNTER WITH HIM, WHO ALSO HAPPENED TO BE AFRICAN AMERICAN. NOW ANYONE WHO KNOWS ME KNOWS THAT I NEVER PULL THE RACE CARD BUT IT HAS ME WONDERING!! But forget about the difference of our race... Human to Human HIS BEHAVIOR WAS DISGRACEFUL!
