Thoughtfully designed and managed. I've been at the Franklin Electric location for six months and it far exceeds my (admittedly low) bar: a more productive spot to work than the coffee shop that doubles as daycare. The owner Sam is easy going and responsive, the office is quiet, and the pricing is great (I shopped around).
Speaking of shopping around, the trend in co-working spaces seems to be "eclectic, co-ed fraternity" -- not a bad thing, but not always conducive to putting in eight hours. Not so at Work Heights. The space is simple where it should be -- plain tables, easy access to power, phone booths and meeting rooms -- in order to let it's members get work done with minimal bells and whistles. But the details are sensitive where you want them to be -- the space is clean, there are snacks and coffee to keep you charged, a printer for when your screen needs a break and space to relax when the rest of you does.
Worth noting, too, that Sam's pretty invested in making a community out of our collection of actually-very-decent vagabonds. If you believe the hype, sometime soon-ish none of us will work in a traditional office -- with Work Heights concerts, reading series, and dinners, Sam's doing his part to make sure we don't turn into completely...
Read moreThe owner of this space (coincidentally the only person to rate it five stars) is rather pretentious and would rather stand on their high horse than take your business. I walked over because I live in the neighborhood and wanted a desk just for a day, possibly interested in a monthly membership if I liked it. The door was locked at the first space. The second space the door was locked too and I knocked. On the door it does say "shown by appointment only", but I thought well, here I am and I'm definitely willing to pay for this so as a local business I thought they may want to take my money, not to mention that at least once space looked fairly empty. Instead a member had to stand up and stop working to inform me that there isn't a receptionist (not so bad) and there's actually no number to call or way to get in contact with the person that runs the place (very bad). They said to send that person an email so I did. They refused to give me a day pass, sure, have it your way - even worse though, the person insisted I fill out a form and have an appointment without even entertaining my request. Once again, have it your way, but I'll take my business to a space that's run in a bit more of a welcoming...
Read moreI love this space! I was easily able to set up an appointment to tour and found the owner to be very warm and welcoming. I looked at a several co-working spaces in the neighborhood and ended up choosing this one because of a) the beautiful space, well designed with tons of natural light b) the community oriented approach and c) the easy access to conference rooms, phone rooms, and a backyard. The price is also very reasonable and the location convenient to my home. And the free snacks are a nice perk!
Since becoming a member, I've seen that the owner is constantly adding new features. Plus I made a couple of small requests that were immediately accommodated.
I've found that different spaces have different vibes and features that appeal to different people so you have to find the place that works for you. Having said that, Work Heights is definitely worth...
