Ugghh... Hate dragging myself on the MTA 76, 74 or 51 either to the ferry to get to Manhattan or riding the beloved Staten Island ferry from Whitehall to return to our beautiful, lush oasis aka Richmond County. The restaurants within the St. George Ferry Terminal are as transient as the commuters.. there one minute, gone the next. The Dairy Queen has been closed for renovations for over a year with no work started or a sign of life seen. The Newsstand with Starbucks coffee offered closed shop before Thanksgiving and packed up their inventory late night (2:00-5:00am) leaving no evidence of their presence and a sign offering leasing inquiry inquiries being available now sits on the same doors homeless residents now lean on while migrants wander around the terminal aimlessly. Au Bon Pain left all of their equipment in place and is now closed. I now have to find another place when I want a $10 lukewarm, burnt cup of coffee with a chance of a dollop of sour cream ( I prefer half and half) good old , old warm milk, or everyones favorite, soy milk. I especially will miss the care free, I could care less attitude given by the unprofessional behemoth location manager who was always in the back eating, I mean baking pastries and her trusted sidekick, gargoyle the assistant manager, who was more interested in policing the coffee bandits who tried to liberate coffee on a daily basis, running for the terminal like Mexican migrants running for the Rio Grande. Maybe the homeless people who were panhandling outside the cafe negatively affected the business to the point that no notice was given. I blame it on Mayor Adams.
Other than that, St George Ferry Terminal is a semi clean transit hub for the free Staten Island Ferry that serves as a daily commute for residents of Staten Island and Manhattan to and from work along with the 1000's and 1000's of daily visitors who walk incredibly slow when boarding or unloading the damn ferry, making me and other locals miss our connecting busses or subways.
I have an idea, Mayor Adams. Give all New York City residents free transportation on the subways, busses (Local and SBS- free . Express Busses stay fare base) the Staten Island Ferry and WaterTaxi and NYC ferry services become free for residents. This would increase ridership throughout the city year round. Congestion pricing may, as a result, become not necessary
Make all tourists and non NYC residents pay for travel on all mass-transit options. Increase the fares nominally to ease transition to the new...

I Frequent this transportation and the overall effort being made to better it.
