POSTCARDS - The Staten Island 9/11 Memorial with the One World Trade Center and Lower Manhattan in the distant background This September 11 memorial on Staten Island, the “borough of parks” in New York City was conceived of as two enlarged postcards, symbolizing personal communications between loved ones. They are folded to reflect the messages being personal, and its formal abstract quality inspire people to find different meanings into it. Each Staten Islander is honored on walls with their profile silhouette, name and other facts in 9”x11” granite plaque. Recessed light shafts behind each profiles create depth and movement, also allowing natural and illumination lights to pass through to highlight their silhouettes. Will hopefully be HOT spot for people to come to go shopping on the water front pier, dinning at a nice restaurant with the beautiful views of NYC and Jersey city Skyline and to come ride the worlds tallest Ferris Wheel 🎡. I am not sure what the legal battle is all about other than waisted money with the contracting company. But Staten Islands waterfront near ferry terminal is suppose to have the worlds tallest Ferris Wheel, a new mall and restaurants and suppose to be finished years ago. millions have been spent but nothing has yet to be finished. So in my opinion, until something actually gets done the only reason to go to this park is to ride the Staten Island Ferry and see the beautiful view of the NYC skyline. There is one restaurant open near this park but food quality is poor to mediocre at Dock Cafe. Hope I can change this review some time in the near future with more positive remarks.

Always go here on Sundays because of FREE parking at the ferry. Stores opened at 11am but some like Nike opens at noon. Its a hit & miss. If you want to waste time, walk around and enjoy the view- come on down. There were few sales at Old Navy & Nordstrom Rack, you just have to look. Food wise, not a lot of selection of food to grab. Inside the ferry terminal is pricey.

If you want to waste time, walk around and enjoy the view- come on down. There were few sales at Old Navy & Nordstrom Rack, you just have to look. Food wise, not a lot of selection of food to grab. Inside the ferry terminal is pricey.
