My family and I love the St. George library! It’s practically our second home—mostly because it’s within walking distance and has air conditioning, now. Every time we walk in, we feel welcome (even the guards are friendly) . My son was a regular at baby lap sit story time and baby play time, with Douglas and Nobuko. Nobuko is a rock star with the little ones! She’s got them all mesmerized. I would like for them to incorporate a rule that no parents are allowed to talk on the phones. There was one incident where there was a disruptive parent that was literally cursing and Nobuko said absolutely nothing. I just grabbed my baby and left but we haven't returned since.
As for the classes, can we talk about the random ones? They're great, but let’s get some more variety, please! How about more art classes that offer some real technical direction? I’m not asking for Picasso-level, just a little more than “chat and draw.” And maybe some new faces teaching computer literacy. Sometimes you need more than one way to figure out why the your Excel formulas aren't working, you know?
The staff is generally helpful, though it sometimes feels like they’re glued to their chairs. But, if you’re persistent, they’ll eventually get up, stretch their legs, and help you out, at least that's my experience. Overall, the place is clean, and it’s clear the director is doing a good job. But here’s a fun idea: why not set up a suggestion pole where patrons can vote on the types of classes they’d like to see? A little democracy in our learning options wouldn’t hurt. Who knows, maybe we’ll see a class on how to get librarians to stand up faster. (Joke)
Keep up the good work, St. George! We're...
Read moreI Have never been more disrespected in my life then I was at this establishment. My wife and I were parting way inside when we were told that if we wanted to kiss we have to go outside. I Was absolutely appalled. We were actually approached by security and when I said I would like to speak to a manager or someone in charge. Was spoken to like a child frolicking with his girlfriend.
Then I was told that if they allow me to do so. Then they would have to tell the teenagers to stop. Like what is this the 1800's. Luckily before this horrible experience my wife and I had a discussion with the wonderful women at the front desk. That put me in a better...
Read moreUsed this library years before & always liked it. A year After the pandemic & I STILL like it. Had to renew my library card & the librarian was sooo helpful with the process. She even asked me if I wanted to use the computers or check out some books. Since I had to run errands, I politely declined this time. However, I did tell her that I will stop by in July when all of the libraries will open completely. This branch is a secret GEM! (once you get over climbing the hill...
