Food Universe Marketplace — Local services in New York

I recently moved to co-op city and this market is close to my home. I am vegan and while I was considering between Boca or Gardein I opened the freezer door. There were two employees stocking right outside of the aisle speaking in Spanish. When I opened the freezer door they stopped speaking and one looked in the aisle and said "dark girl" in Spanish and then continued his conversation. I was very offended. At no point ever when shopping for food should my skin color be bought up by the employees. They didn't ask if I needed help but for some reason "dark girl" was very important to say. When I bought my complaint to the manager who said his name was Junior, he verbally attacked me saying "I hire people from Haiti, Africa and I'm not racist." I never accused Junior of being racist, nor did I accuse the employees of being racist but I told him I felt very offended and that it shouldn't have happened.I felt the employees should've had some kind of coaching. I said 'How would you feel if you went to shop somewhere and all you heard was two employees speaking on your skin color, not even offering to help you. He said "I wouldn't feel a way." I left after realizing that Junior was too immature and lacked leadership skills to manage a conversation with a customer yet alone a supermarket. I called the supermarket later on that day to get "Junior's" real name and the manager that picked up told me he didn't know it because Junior just came from another store. I found that very odd. I called corporate to make a complaint and was only transferred to someones line that only went to voicemail and never contacted me. I would never support Food Universe. I hope that people in the neighborhood stop supporting this behavior. Clearly they do not care about offending their customers or trying to fix the problem. Stop & Shop is further for me but they have now gained a new customer. I've only went the once so far but their team is a lot more helpful and I haven't heard anything about the "dark girl" while shopping there. BOYCOTT...

Half the time when I go in there looking for an item that is advertised as being on sale in their flyer, they don’t even have it in stock. Yesterday when this happened I asked for a rain check. I was told that rain checks were only issued on Thursday (the last day of the sale). I have NEVER had this happen at any other supermarket in my life! How did this idiot know whether or not I would even be in the area on that date? Besides which, that Thursday happened to be Thanksgiving! I don’t even know if they’re open on that date and, in any event, I was going out to dinner with family. I have also had problems with their deli department. The man behind the counter has, on more than one occasion, tried to charge me the full price for an item that was listed as being on sale. When I pointed this out to him, he told me that I would have to tell them at the check out register. When I told them at check out, they had to check with the manager, whom they had to go look for (Why, I don’t know because the merchandise in question was listed on sale in the flyer). I am disabled and do not appreciate having to stand around while they go through their routine. This place is a joke. I only wish that there was another supermarket closer to me so I would never have to shop in this...

To whom it may concern, 9/8/16 This store had friendship cottage cheese (low fat )on sale for $2.99, the date on 2 containers was use before 9/9/16 and 2 had the date of 9/28/16,i took the 2 that was dated 9/28/16 and the cashier scanned and the price said $3.99 I told the cashier the sale price is $2.99 then she asked the manager the manager asked her what was the date printed on the container and the cashier replied 9/28/16 the manager told me that the container that says 9/9/16 is the one on sale not the one with 9/28/16 ,I asked how can that be since it’s the same brand and only the date was different I was told that this what is done, replied is that even legal I was rudely ignored and I told the cashier to remove the items I will not buy this for the full price if only the one that is expired in one day is really on sale .**SHOP AT...
