Disappointed by Discrimination, but Grateful for Professional Resolution
I’ve been a loyal GameStop customer for years and have always had a positive experience purchasing electronic gift cards — until a recent visit left me deeply disappointed. I came in to buy gift cards, as I normally do, but was met with unprofessional and discriminatory treatment from an employee named Abe. He refused to process my purchase, claiming store policy prohibited the sale of electronic gift cards, even after I explained that I’ve regularly made these purchases in the past.
The interaction felt dismissive and unfair, and I was left feeling disrespected and offended. Fortunately, another employee — a kind lady whose name I unfortunately don’t recall — stepped in to resolve the situation. She was courteous, professional, and took care of my order while apologizing for the inconvenience caused.
Her actions reminded me why I’ve stayed a loyal customer for so long. While I’m grateful for how she handled the situation, I sincerely hope GameStop addresses these kinds of issues internally. Discrimination and poor customer service can seriously harm a brand’s reputation, but great employees like her make a...
Read moreIm done with Staten Island gamestops. Especially Staten Island mall and forest avenue. I sent my girlfriend to trade in stellar blade about 2 days after it was released,(about a week ago). Still a week later the website states it gives 19.25 to pros cash, yet she went in there an they argued with her that it was only 14.25 and wouldn’t give her the proper amount. This store is what you call a scam artist hidden under a big name. Now I went into forest avenue about 3 weeks ago a sold them a Nintendo switch with a few games and a controller which I was quoted 165 for an the employee handed me 145$. I never had issues like that before so I just left and went home. I went to put the money away and I noticed it was missing 20 so I checked everywhere to make sure I didn’t make a mistake. I let it go because I didn’t count it in the store but I still left them a bad review because it’s obvious the guy stole the 20 for himself he was alone. GAMESTOP LOST A LIFETIME...
Read moreThis was the best gamestop I've been to in the NY tri state area. I'll break it down to 3 key reasons. 1. The people who work here are cool, funny, and extremely helpful. They build good relations with customers and maintain a level of respect. 2. Their retro collection of consoles and games is ACTUALLY deep and diverse. I've been furious going to "retro gamestops' just for them to have basically nothing i'm ever wanting or looking for, and if they do, they only have dirty/damaged consoles. This store had a TON of vintage systems and they were all in great shape. and 3. Have you realized that I've said way more than 3 things? Anyway, this stores layout was normal for a gamestops, but it's the good folks who operated the store that made it feel extraordinary. Thank you for reading. This should be your top choice gamestop...
