I am so disappointed in my visit today. I know that the pandemic was hard on this industry and things are still rather raw but there has to be some acceptable standards here. I hate how the minute you walk on the floors to get to theaters its super sticky( this place is pretty new so I expected better conditions). The bathroom was fairly clean but there was only one sink working due to virus which is absurd. My fiancé ordered our food ahead of time so we thought the food would be served in due time for the movie, boy I was wrong! He approached staff 20 minutes into the movie asking where is the food and they said it still wasn’t ready. When it was finally brought they didn’t even give us basic things like ketchup or napkins salt pepper. We also noticed the amount of butter they give on the side to pour into popcorn was tiny compared to tub, i guess on the app you gotta indicate the extra butter option to get a decent amount. Of course only one dish came out and when we noticed a half hour later that the second one remained MIA we had to approach staff second time and they said oh we ran out of brussel sprouts sorry we didnt tell you but we will bring sampler platter instead. Guess what 20 minutes go by and still nothing, so at our last straw when we went up to staff 3rd time they gave us lame excuse that chef was on lunch break and there was shortage of waiters, my fiance asked for those veggies to be cooked on the spot because we had enough. PS the bar for drinks wasnt open either which was very disappointing. In terms of food itself, it tasted like something frozen with tons of sodium and lackluster sauces, the tenders were probably tyson and the fries were also very commercial - their saving grace is their brussel sprouts because lets face it its hard to screw up vegetables. I have to say the seating itself was not as comfortable as I hoped because the recliner doesnt go up for your legs too high and the tray isn’t connected close enough to eat, i did however like their heated seat option. In terms of covid, I saw wipes throughout the common areas of the theater and staff wore masks but I can’t say its certain that seats or tables are wiped down in between show times. If i was to come back here I would not eat here and would probably just order at concessions stand because their order ahead...
Read moreAgainst my own better judgement, I decided to give this theatre a try to save the time and tolls I spend going to Menlo.
I was correct in my assumption that this Staten Island theatre would miss the mark and it earned its 3 strikes. This movie theatre does not provide a barcode ticket to be scanned by an attendant and get you into the theatre quickly. You will receive your confirmation code which has to be typed into a computer to receive your paper tickets. Btw, theres only 3 screens and they're right where people buy actual tickets. Imagine what this area will look like with a crowd. The decor in the theatre was nice but its also new. The seats were tight, right next to one another and dont fully recline. (Your feet lift slightly above the ground as opposed to a full extend.) And when I say close, I mean really close. My purchased seats were next to another couple so I skipped a seat. Worst case if somebody came while had bought the seat i would have had to sit right next to them. Luckily that didnt happen. When I did sit down, I looked for the menu or the "call" button and found nothing. I saw a worker delivering food (during the previews, I'm not an animal and talk during the movie) and asked how do I place an order? He said when you arrive you have to wait on line and order your food. You can get your drink at the coke freestyle machine and your food will be delivered. So essentially, this isnt a real dine in. It's more of a grubhub movie service. What if I need a refill, napkins, ketchup, etc? Needless to say, I watched my whole movie hungry because I didnt want to leave to go order, receive cold food and miss the beginning of my movie. * 3 strikes, YOURE OUT*
All in all, AMC missed the mark big time because us Staten Islanders that do venture off this island were expecting a true AMC dine in and instead received this crummy substitute. Is this what they think of us or did SI allow/call ourselves to be treated this way?
Either way, I hope this one works for some because I will be sticking with AMC Menlo and dont want anybody coming to crowd that theatre seeking a real...
Read moreDisappointing Experience at AMC Staten Island - Needs Urgent Improvement
I recently visited the AMC Staten Island location with family and friends to catch a movie, and unfortunately, the experience was far from enjoyable. Several issues marred our outing, making it clear that this theater needs significant improvements.
Firstly, the concession line was painfully slow. We waited an unreasonable amount of time, which cut into our pre-movie enjoyment. This is a common frustration at many theaters, but it seemed particularly egregious at this location.
Secondly, and most disturbingly, upon entering Theater 6, we discovered some sort of food substance – possibly ketchup or sauce – smeared across the screen. This is unacceptable and reflects poorly on the theater's cleanliness and maintenance. Moreover, several seats were broken and did not recline as advertised, adding to our discomfort.
However, the most egregious issue was the state of the family restroom. After waiting for over five minutes, two teenagers, one male and one female, emerged. It was painfully obvious what they had been doing inside. This is utterly inappropriate and disgusting behavior, particularly in a family restroom. AMC, you must take immediate action to address this issue. Families should not have to witness such things.
The overall experience was deeply disappointing, especially considering the high prices charged for tickets and concessions. This is precisely why I typically opt for theaters in New Jersey, where cleanliness and respect for patrons seem to be a higher priority.
AMC Staten Island needs to seriously address these concerns. They need to:
Improve the speed and efficiency of the concession lines.
Ensure regular cleaning and maintenance of all theaters, including screens and seating.
Implement measures to prevent inappropriate behavior in the family restroom.
Increase staff presence to monitor activities.
Until these issues are resolved, I cannot recommend this location. I hope AMC takes this feedback seriously and makes the necessary changes to provide the movie experience that...
