White Castle — Restaurant in New York

I was debating if I should even write a review about this place because I worked here but this place needs to be exposed of the truth. I want to start off by saying if you want a job and you are a female who wants to work here I suggest you don't. Dereyk and Eddie are both grown men who objectify women, whether they are coworkers or customers. Around November of last year I had quit my job for personal reasons, I was desperately looking for a job and to my surprise I saw White Castle was hiring. I got the job and id say the process was very fast and easy, I got an interview the next day and they hired me. Right off the bat when I walked in the vibe of the place threw me off completely, Dereyk was so unprofessional, I didn’t receive a proper interview, he made me fill out some documents since I got hired on the spot. He asked very personal questions and I thought that was normal. Then it started to get weirder, after I had finished with the documents, he said I was free to go and him and Eddie both started to sexualize me proceeding to look at me in a very uncomfortable way, I simply just pushed it aside because I desperately needed this job. My first week working there everything was fine, I had no problem with anyone and after this incident everything just started to unravel, I was grabbing a broom from the storage room and out of no where Dereyk comes towards me , he stops me and lays out his hand in front of me. I thought he was going to give me something but instead he grabs my hand and I had to quickly pull my hand away because first of I had just started working there, whether other girls were okay with that, I wasn't and if I dont know you, you have no right to touch me without my consent.I felt so uneasy and he saw my initial reaction and tried covering it up by making up a lame excuse for why he did that , after that I simply just walked away. Dereyk is the General manager not only does he objectify women, he is also extremely rude to employees and customers including the delivery people. He is also racist and immature. When Asians would come into the store Dereyk would call them Jackie chan and proceed to laughed like it was funny I would do drive thru and there would be women pulling up and he would say the most unsettling and disturbing comments as if they weren't right there or couldnt hear bc half the time I would have the window open. They would continuously call us female coworkers names that we had not clue what there meaning were come to find out they was sexualizing us. The bathroom would be so dirty and no one would clean it, it was so disgusting trying to use the women's bathroom(btw I started working in December and not once did I see anyone clean the br. I was told the morning people were suppose to do it and I worked mornings) He is so childish and immature, the respect people have for him is none. he has no self respect. He shouts at us in front of customers and it would sometimes cause customers to worry. He only wants to act professional when it convenient to him for example when he would go on meetings( he barely told us what they would tell him) but he would start acting professional and then he would go back to his usual self. I went to work today like any other regular day and come to find out I was terminated and honestly he could have texted it to me instead of wasting my time going into work and finding out. 8. Ever since I started to see the kind of man child he was I stopped respecting him. He noticed it too so he made his feelings vey much known of course. and He very much played favoritism as well and would always make everything personal. There is so much more to this list I could white a whole essay about it but honestly this is more than enough. I have never experience such a nasty work environment until working here and I honestly feel so relieved that I dont ever have to waste my time or energy on people like him. Everywhere in the U.S. are open-24-hour fast food joints to grab an inexpensive late night munchie. Nostalgic for former times as the designated driver of a carload of drunks and stoners when I'd pull into the White Castle drive-through to order cheeseburgers, onion rings and soft drinks after Manhattan partying. Then we'd tarry eating in the parking lot until sober enough to take the 92nd St Verrazano bridge on ramp. That Brooklyn franchise is long gone, but the same sauteed diced onion flavored sliders still are available at this Hylan Blvd venue at the south west corner of Lincoln Av. The hygenic white and stainless steel Castle design is a staple coast to coast for more than half a century. Menu specials expand the burger and fry basics. Chicken rings, waffles. For the amount of people they have on the clock during the shift, they are extremely inefficient and mismanaged. The girl taking orders at the register was scrolling social media on her phone (zero eye contact) while asking me what I wanted. When you think about consistency, this white castle location is known for that. And it is not the good consistency. While you wait for your food, you can hear customers complain about how their orders are never correct. They do not know how to put together orders, which causes further delay for other customers from receiving their order. Nor do they know how to handle times when the shift gets busy.

With that being said, this is still white castle at the end of the day and do not represent high standards. And for the people there, it's just a paycheck, not caring about the company...
