JC Bicycle — Local services in New York

JC offers so much! A great guy and a skilled workman, always ready with sound advice for what you and your bike need. JC is a selfless man with a great sense of humor, and he truly has your best interests in mind! We moved in back in August 2016 and immediately befriended JC, and have had only great experiences with him since. Every now and then I take my bike in for a tune up or a new tube, and it's always fully satisfactory. This year I convinced my girlfriend to buy a bike. We went to JC and he helped us pick one out; it was a perfect match for her, and at a great price for what we bought! Recently, when her brother was in town, we went to JC to see if we could rent a bike for the day. He told us he doesn't usually rent bikes out, but that he would make an exception for such loyal customers! While we were there, many people came to the shop, wanting repairs and such, and it was very busy! JC tried to help us quickly, but we could not seem to find a bike that fit her brother, or that was ready for the road. Under the pressure, JC decided to let us BORROW his bike for the day! What a privilege! He really went above and beyond, and because of his generosity we got to have a great ride down to the beach. I have tried to get in touch with JC bicycle several times about this but I haven’t heard back-

I bought a bike here about a year ago. I was told it had just gotten a tune up and was ready to ride- so I was surprised when I took it on its first trip and almost got hit by a motorcycle when the brake failed to stop the bike as i was going down a hill. I took the bike back right away and asked them to repair it (they tell you they have a 3 month guarantee where they’ll do any necessary repairs for free). I was new to owning a bike and so when they told me the brake just needed to be tightened, I believed it. So imagine my surprise when it fell apart in my hands right after the end of the “warranty”. I took the bike to get a tune up at another shop and spent over $200 on repairs (including replacing the brake, which JC should have done) because every single part of the bike besides the frame and tires was in awful shape. I feel that I was ripped off and put in danger by negligence from this bike shop. It was a shame, because I thought everyone who helped me there was kind - I was excited to find a new bike shop in the...

A few weeks ago I was caught in a bind with a flat tire and almost every bike shop was about to close. I called JC 5 minutes before closing and he told me he'd stay open so he could fix my flat. I had JUST gotten the inner tube replaced at another shop. He stayed true to his word, I arrived just after they were supposed to close, the team at JC bicycles is extremely knowledgeable and showed me that my inner tube was the wrong size.

JC noticed that my frame was too big for me to ride comfortably. I fell in love with a bicycle he showed me and soon after he agreed to trade my bike. After having my bike for about a week, it was stolen. I was heart broken and didn't know what to do. The next day I called JC and told him what happened, soon after I got another call from JC telling me he had a bicycle for me to use in the meanwhile. It's difficult to express how grateful I am to JC and Morena at the shop.. not only are they professional, knowledgeable, and hardworking- they are also caring, empathetic, and they want the best for you and your bicycle.
