The date was Tuesday, April 23. My wife bought 2 eggplants from Key Food and they were both rotten. Then my wife informed me. I asked if he had an invoice. Unfortunately, my wife threw the receipt and bag in the trash. I was about to return home, so I bought eggplants from a different market and came home. I gave the new eggplants to my wife and put the rotten eggplants in the bag of the eggplants I had just bought. I went to Key Food and the cashier manager told me to talk to him. So, naturally, she asked for my receipt and I said that my wife had thrown it in the trash. I told. Then he said they could give me a replacement and I said I wanted a refund and he said we can't do it without a receipt. I said, "Give me a receipt for the product you exchanged, and if it turns out to be rotten again, I don't want to deal with it." Because this was not the first time, the same thing happened when we bought eggplants 3 times and watermelons once. Then the manager took the bag and made disrespectful accusations such as "This is not even our bag, how do I know you bought it from here, you bought it maybe a month ago, how do I know?" I told him that I wasn't here for the 6 dollars or even to change the eggplant. This is not the first time this has happened and it's annoying my credit card is here my account history is here look at the system and I asked them to refund my money but after this disrespectful and accusatory attitude I didn't want to talk any more and I threw the eggplants in the trash and left. How sad it is, you buy an eggplant from a market, you go to the market to return it, they almost judge you as a thief, this is absolutely unacceptable. I didn't pay attention to the manager's name, but he was dressed in gray and had...
Read moreI value this supermarket being in my neighborhood, but had a really off-putting experience today. They’ve implemented a “bag check” at the entrance to the store, which is essentially just a guy telling you he needs your bags (even grocery bags). While I understand that theft is probably an issue at this location, this is not the answer.
First of all, it was a small open ikea shelf that he was using to store the bags, so it didn’t feel very secure. I felt really weird having to take my wallet out and walk around the store knowing my entire purse was just sitting on a shelf right by the entrance door.
Second, the layout of the store doesn’t make sense for a bag check. The exit is completely walled off from the entrance, so in order to retrieve your bag you have to walk back through the check out area and back to the store entrance.
It seems to me that there are people in our community who need food. I don’t think the manager of this location is reacting responsibly. Although it pains me to say this as Key Food is the most affordable market in my immediate area, I don’t think I will be shopping here in the future. I’m happy to walk a couple extra blocks if it means I can keep my bags...
Read moreDecent Supermarket. You must look at expiration dates and the quality of product itself. I bought a loaf of bread, 2 days later there was mold! But the date said it was good for another 3 days after that... weird.... staff at registers are sweet as well as the staff in the aisles stocking. There is just one manager, tall Spanish man, who is very rude in my opinion. He stares you down as you walk in the store as well as on your way out. Idk if he thinks I'm stealing or if it is because I am a pretty female....but either way it is very uncomfortable. Could use more and better sales in the circular. Ice cream selection is very very sparse... even in the summer it was light too so it is not just because it is winter... the sushi guy is very sweet and he takes pride in his work and always has a smile on his face which is nice. I give it 5 stars for cleanliness as well. Overall good place to shop regularly just be careful for expired products like I said earlier, and that manager that stands near the entrance/exit. He is the real reason I did not give this place 5 stars.... they should promote one of the really nice register workers to manager purely for the great customer service...
