It’s not fair that I give 5 stars to all grocery/taco stand combinations. It wasn’t fair to give every liquor store in Cali with a taco truck in the parking lot 5 stars either. Don’t care. These are my favorite thing. La Abuelita is one of the best places like this I’ve visited. My burrito was smallish by Mission standards with a lot of rice %wise. The rice, like all the fillings in my burrito, was excellent. Chicken was amaze. Burrito was served with a squeeze bottle of the house green hot sauce. It was tasty with a modest kick. I’d have loved a salsa bar but it doesn’t detract from this place. Seating is tight. I have to admit that I was very jealous of everything everyone was eating around me. The Sopas look next level. Nachos were food porn along with the tacos. I don’t experience envy with a burrito in front of me ever so this is my highest praise. This little gem far away from my NYC activity base, is going in my NYC rotation. Can’t wait to try the soup

Went into to order tamales verdes de pollo, these were one of the worst ones I’ve tasted. It’s my first time coming here because of the rating I had faith. But truly, left unsatisfied. The tamales were bland, tasted like cardboard and barely had salsa verde. The green sauce you see on top is the only sauce it came with and even the sauce tasted bitter. I ordered 4 tamales and they were all disappointing. The whole tamales were watery as well. Please do better to keep the integrity of the meals you are serving.

Everything about this place is done right. A well maintained grocery store that leads to comfortable exclusive seating in front of a dining counter. The ladies behind the plastic veil of the counter conjure up some of the most remarkable homestyle food in all of Bushwick. It feels like you've entered someone's home and their grandma is whipping up lunch. I encourage you to try every protein option in every combination of medium available whether it be a taco or sopes or otherwise.

Very mixed experience here. Partner and I got there for a happy hour which goes on till 7. Ordered 2 margheritas at 6:30PM which came 15 mins later at 6:45PM, at which point we decided we would put in an order for another 2 more seeing how long it took to come, and knowing we would like another drink. At that point, Waitress insisted we order something to eat as well. We decided to get churros, and were greeted with a sarcastic remark that it was dinner time and that was desert. Waitress also mentioned she would put in the drinks order 5 mins later, and we didn’t think much of it at that time. Churros came, drinks didn’t. We finished the dessert at which point, we asked her if she had put in our order for drinks and the waitress said they don’t do that until the patron is already done with their existing drink so she could take the order now but wouldn’t be happy hour…. Take that how you will, I thought it was ridiculously stingy. Oh and the bill came with 18% gratuity which was a joke after that service. Margaritas were great but I’m not coming back....
