Kwame Ture Recreation Center — Local services in New York

Like almost everything in NYC is unorganized no schedule for open gym. I called before heading over there the phone operator told me whatever I wanted hear , told me their was open gym from 8am-2pm I get there a little bit past 9 o’clock 20 minutes in the staff tells me I have to leave because a school is coming in and proceeds to tell me they only be there for 30 minutes so I go waste some time in the weight room. Waiting for the kids to leave the gym/basketball-court. Once they leave I go back in the court for like 15 minutes just to have the staff tell me they’re a second group coming in I have to leave again. Mind you these kids are in there for free I payed a fee to enter this center. I asked the security if they have a schedule and she tell me with an attitude NO YOU JUST HAVE TO LEAVE WHEN THEY SHOW UP! Like are you serious this so inconsiderate she doesn’t even know where I’m coming from. For me to take transportation to get there just to be told I can’t use the court. And then when after school comes the kids also take over??? So why in the world are you guys charging adult for...

I saw the center was back open. So I went to the front desk and asked the woman there if there is a program schedule for the center. She was like "what schedule"? She had an attitude. So I had to break down what I was talking about (I shouldn't had to do that). Most Recreation Center have a program schedule or they will direct me to go online. This was an older woman. The center's manager/director needs to speak with her or change her to a staff that has knowledge...

This facility is great well maintained and worth the price of admission. However the restrictions are a bit disappointing. They have hours in which adults can use the basketball courts and they are separate from the kids hours which means if you're an adult you cant just play basketball anytime of the day you please, which makes for a very frustrating time there.
