Lanoba Design - Vintage Danish Mid Century Modern Furniture — Local services in New York

Very nice selection of mid century furniture, with excellent refinishing. Seems like they have a pretty good business going, and I'll admit I am impressed - but would I purchase furniture from here? No

I will start by saying that we are all entitled to opinions, and if you read on this is mine:

The prices on a lot of these pieces are at or above those of current/new furniture offerings for pieces originating from both the U.S. and Europe, especially for veneered products. Yes you read that sentence correctly: most of the items here are veneered. Are they high quality hardwood veneers? Yes absolutely. I just say that because I've noted a few reviews which appear to be from people that thought they were purchasing solid hardwood products as well as hearing comments from individual shoppers when I visited the warehouse space. It makes me sad when people think that they're buying solid wood products when in reality they are not. These are basically high-end early mass produced veneered furniture products.

You can find a U.S. based furniture maker to construct a solid hardwood table, desk, credenza, or chairs for $1,000-3,000 in this style.

The claim that these all come from individual homes seems odd or incorrect (to my eyes). Certain things that I would note include that many of the sets of chairs are for way more chairs than an individual would own. Or the fact that many of the dressers and end tables are identical or near duplicates of each other with nearly identical drawer pulls and joinery, which would lead me to believe that these were batches removed from a commercial facility (hotels/businesses).

Of course there are many furniture stores which sell pieces made both on the third world or in China for lower or higher prices; I'm not including those in this comparison because there's really no benchmark for guidance. Are these as good/better?...

My wife and I bought our dinning room table from Lanoba Design as a wedding gift to ourselves. It is a unique round Rosewood table with two leafs. We absolutely love it.

When we brought the table home it unfortunately had a malfunction in the extending mechanism that allows for the leafs of the table to be put in place. I contacted Lars about this and he personally came to our home to fix the issue. Realizing he was unable to fix the issue on site he arranged for pickup and delivery of the table at not cost to us and on an extremely expedited schedule. The level of customer service was incredible and the table is beautiful....
