Spectrum — Local services in New York

Please do not believe the Spectrum ads, particularly the ones that promise the moon for $29.95. I pay $209 a month and I have no phone service, medium-speed internet, and my iphone app works about every other day (when it was Time Warner, it was 99% effective). I particularly love the declaration in the ad that another provider makes them "rent" their modem while they imply Spectrum's is free. Then why have I been paying for my modem for years now, with no change in my billing since the switch-over from Time-Warner to Spectrum? I think all the providers lie, in their own way. I brought 4 people here, we were late and (unknowingly) arrived 10 minutes before the event finished. The guy at the door insisted we all pay full price DURING the performance.
