I had a very bad experience with photo developing at this lab. I am still rating 3 stars because I am sure they do a good job with other services, but for film, stay away. They must've had dirty chemicals or made some other developing mistake, and all 80 of my photos came out with a thick, dark, sepia tint. Even the overexposed photos look dark.
I did not leave a review right away because with film, there are many factors and I couldn't be sure this was the lab's fault. I spent time and money testing the camera with other film stocks, and testing the other two rolls of film from this same package in other cameras to see if either the film or the camera were at fault. All other photos (developed at 3 other labs) turned out excellent. In addition, I send the negatives to another lab for a rescan, thinking maybe the scanning/editing was bad. No, it was the developing.
What's frustrating is that Magic Photo Lab didn't even mention the mistake to me, hoping I wouldn't notice. And because I am new to film photography, I didn't. I thought I did something wrong until I ran those test comparisons. They did heavy editing to hide the sepia tone but it made the pics look worse. The other lab that rescanned the roll left them unedited, and I was able to edit them myself to look a little better.
If you are looking to develop film, I suggest Photo Life on Nostrand. Less than half the price, same day scans, incredible results. Because of them, I didn't give up on film after the disappointing experience with...
Read moreMe and my wife went to get our passport photos here. We needed 12 photos total and the cost came to $33.73 after tax. First off nobody greets you when you walk in so I was just standing there until I forced myself onto an employee to get their attention. There was a lady in-front of me complaining about her wait time for her pictures.
Right after leaving I made a mistake and accidentally creased the photos beyond the point where they could be use-able. Of course its my fault that I did this, but printing photos is such a high margin profit that I figured I would go back and ask if they could re-print them for me. I went back the same day, approximately 1 hour after I left. I asked the guy who took the photos if they could do me a favor and re-print them for me. He went over and explained to his manager or owner - whomever was in charge - my mistake and request. He told me he has the photos saved so he wouldn't need to re-take the picture but would charge us again.
Well it's their right to charge, but I feel this is just terrible customer service. They could have earned themselves a lifetime customer and a 5 star review by me if they had simply invested the 60 cents or whatever it costs them to re-print the photos, but instead they've earned a 1 star from me and permanent loss of a customer. There's two other printing places right near there (fastport passport, and walgreens). Just use one of those...
Read moreI went to Magic Photo last week for the first time and had an absolutely wonderful experience. The salesman, Jeffrey, was very helpful and knowledgeable. He printed a beautiful 8 X 10 matte cropped photo, with vibrant colors, and framed it beautifully for me (please see the attached photo, though the lighting in my apartment is not the best-it’s more beautiful in person). I posted a picture of the finished product on Facebook and received so many compliments. I will definitely be a repeat customer. Thank you for this...
