I am a big fan of Marcia’s Hair Braiding and my hair stylist, Alicia!!!! I was here one day and there were two little girls waiting to have their hair done and evidently the parents had left the little girls to have their hair done and would return later. The hairstylist looked over the little girls as it seemed that they were not preferred as it would be less financially beneficial to them to do their hair as the price would be less. So they kept taking the adults as they came in. I was so angry with how the little girls were treated and decided that I would let them know that what they were doing was terrible and I would take my business elsewhere! Bus as I was prepared to intervene on the little girl’s behalf, Ms. Marcia herself came like Mama Bear and began to alert the staff that she saw that they were ignoring the little girls and that she wanted them accommodated that very moment. She also told them that she services families and these babies are also customers. She lastly told them that if they did not want to do little children’s hair, they are welcome to leave abs if that situation with the little girls ever happened again that they were no longer going to work for her!!! Woooohoooooo. Ms. Marcia!!!! She wa amazing. As the mother of a 9 year old little girl, I was so exceptionally impressed by Ms. Marcia and her advocacy, that my daughter, Sareena, and I are customers for life! Plus the icing on the cake, Alicia is the best hairstylist in all 5 boroughs, and have been to most!!!!! So I highly recommend Marcia’s African Hair...

AFTER ARRIVING ON TIME FOR 1PM APPT, PAID UBER $35 TO TRAVEL TO QUEENS FROM BENSONHURST. MIMI SAID TO GET THERE AT 1PM, SHE HAD ME WAITING FOR 1 HOUR AND 36 MINUTES. I KNEW THIS CAUSE THAT'S HOW LONG IT TOOK FOR ME TO TRAVEL AND HEAD BACK TO SALON FROM GREEN ACRES MALL. SHE ACTUALLY SAID SHE COULD NOT WAIT THE 15 MINUTES FOR RETURN, EVEN THOUGH SHE WAS STILL BOILING THE WATER FOR THE CLIENTS BRAIDS. WHEN I WALKED IN SHE JUST STARTED BRAIDING ANOTHER PERSON. AFTER ANOTHER 1HR AND 30 MINUTES OF WAITING, I SHOW HER THE DESIGN PHOTO IN OUR TEXT MESSAGES TO EACH OTHER. SHE NOW TELLS ME SHE CAN'T DO IT. SHE CAN ONLY DO REGULAR CORNROWS. Read moreIf I could leave a negative stars, I absolutely would. I came in for passion twists and had one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had at a salon. First, the stylist didn’t even ask me what method I preferred (braided first or just twisted). She went ahead and did it her way, which left my hair looking bulky and messy. When I pointed it out respectfully and showed her how I wanted it to look, she refused to fix it at first and only agreed to redo the very top, leaving the back looking completely different.
From the beginning, she was unprofessional— I arrived on time at 7:45 a.m. and she took an entire hour to even start, walking in and out, worrying about breakfast, until another braider had to tell her to get going. I was the only customer there at this point mind you. Throughout the service she had an attitude, smacked her teeth, gossiped with coworkers (including about customers), and even walked around with no shoes on. She kept saying her hands hurt and that she didn’t want to fix my hair. At the very end, she even admitted she wasn’t good at passion twists—so why take me as a client in the first place?
I left unhappy, and within a short walk home, multiple twists had already unraveled. I’ve never had such an unprofessional, careless experience and I will not be coming back. Just...
