They do a good job for a reasonable price.
I have two issues with them.
The pedicure fans on the wooden drying station are so weak that they are basically not detectable. Useless.
ETA about the salon’s response: the fan was clearly on (the blue light was on, on the button). I tried moving my feet around a wide radius and still felt nothing.
HEADS UP: Kelly is very good! But she appears to be the only person who can handle the phones and walk-ins, appointments etc.
So, if the place is short staffed (which they often seem to be), she will spend FAR more time dealing with that, than working on the customer in front of her.
Today I had a pedicure appointment. I had been in the place for over an hour before she began on the first coat. Out of that hour-plus, I would estimate she spent at MOST a total of 15 minutes working on me.
The rest of the time, ALL other customers took priority over me. EVERY incoming call and walk-in was treated as more important than me. I don’t appreciate that.
(It did occur to me to wonder if I would have been treated the same way if I were a white customer. Maybe; maybe not.)
When I asked for someone else to please work on my pedicure, since I’d been there for over an hour and my first coat wasn’t even started, she was very apologetic and did focus more on my pedicure. Also gave me a longer massage than usual. But it shouldn’t have gotten to that point.
Other places I’ve gone to, when they are so short staffed, rightly (1) let the phone go to voicemail, and (2) put the “closed” sign on the door …. so that they can take care of, respect, and therefore KEEP the business of the customer they already have.
I don’t blame Kelly. I blame the management that keeps the place so short staffed that she has to do two full time jobs at once.
As I said the work is good, and the location is very convenient for me, so I may still come back. I’m...
Read moreLast visit: I have changed my review based on my last experience. When they sold me the service, they were very clear that anybody who kept the receipt can come back within 10 days to get minor fix on their manicure. I kept my receipt and called on the ninth day since the initial service to get only 2 fractured tips fixed. However, Kelly was quite rude this time around on the phone and denied the policy even though they have it written and hanged on their wall. Overselling and under promising coupled with rude attitude made me never come back to this salon again.
First visit initial review: This salon truly deserves recognition! I managed to secure a gel pedicure appointment on New Year's Day morning, a time when most other places were closed for the holiday. The salon might not be very flashy, but it's fully equipped and incredibly CLEAN – a standout quality I look for in salons! Every tool they used were single-use tools, which is not something you see often, and I really appreciated that. The pedicure chair wasn't just any chair; it was a full back massage chair, adding a wonderful touch to the experience. If you're looking for impeccable professionalism, request Kelly. She's from Shanghai and her work is of the highest Shanghai standards. This salon simply became my...
Read moreTruly terrible experience here. The sloppy nail polish that looks like it was painted on by a 5-year-old was bad enough. Then when I paid, leaving 20% tip despite the terrible work, they charged me twice. When I returned only a few minutes later to show them on my banking app that I'd paid twice, they still insisted that the money was "stuck" and didn't go to their account. The employee called the owner who proceeded to yell at me on the phone, telling me that I had to go to their other location on 79th Street to show him my banking info but "don't come now, we're in rush hour." I get the feeling this is something they pull regularly, hoping that people won't notice the double charge. Hours after wasting my time arguing over what should have been a simple refund, I got an alert that a refund is "in process." Still waiting on it to clear before I believe it is true and still stuck with an awful looking pedicure that I'm going to have...
