âŚitâs depressing to see some people get to enjoy SeraFina while others sit at the wayside, despite the fact that their money is Godâs Green M$ney tooâŚitâs scary, intimidating and painful to feeL HATRED. .A couple of the staff members felt spitefully negative towards me because they are judging me by my OUTWARD APPEARANCE.my clothes are NOT CHEAP (not that, were they cheap,it would then validate NEGATIVITY-POOR CHARACTER OBVIOUSLY IS POOR CHARACTER)and it is my PEROGATiVE to choose what attire I wish to wear outside-and if somebody doesnât care for the hat I wear or the expensive coat (((((..I think the environmentally conscientious coat I wear is Lovely and elegant and maybe some donât due to the manner in which I am treated))))),and therefor treats me in a RUDE manner,it is not going to get me to dress up the way certain staff members might preferâŚ.However some staff members are extremely Kind and Polite and are iN NO WAY AFFILIATED WITH THIS COMMENT.I would LOVE to go to SeraFina fairly often ,and most certainly/definitely would,if the takeout was not of a LOWer quality than when you dine at the restaurant. The portion size appeared smaller when it was bought as a takeout item verses purchasing the same item sitting down in the restaurant.I donât Live that far from SeraFina and really strongly wish that ordering from there was a more positive option. When people treat me in a Pejorative and Derogatory way FOR NO OTHER REASON than because they are JUDGING me by my outward appearance it is an action of DiSCRiMiNiTiON.Thankyou so much for reading this review.it is such a sacred blessing to have you Listen to this.WORLD DiGNiTY,EQUALiTY AND JUSTiCE,JiLL.P.S.I SPENT EXACTLY THE SAME AMOUNT OF M$ney at a restaurant not far from SeraFina and was treated with more humanity, kindness and DiGNiTY.I profusely apologize if you feel you are already doing thisâŚI HOPE YOU ARE NOT OFFENDED WHEN I SAY THISâwhen you are hiring it obviously doesnât matter what the person looks like who is potentially being hired nor should gender matter for whatever position they apply for,obviously,-what obviously matters iS HOW THE PERSON TREATS PEOPLE.Obviously a hostess/host can be any weight, any gender, can have purple hair(my hair is itâs natural color but who doesnât LOVE it when people are their own unique, authentic self in whatever way they wish to project that).-What matters obviously is how they treat everybody that comes into the restaurant.Spiteful tension because somebody is reacting to how they feeL about somebodyâs outward appearance is obviously unprofessional.-especially because itâs just because certain staff members donât seem to Like the hat Iâm wearing or the coat.Iâm not a piece of their personal property-they donât get to decide what I wear when I go outside.I want to spend M$ney, not be sidetracked by insidious negative reactions.M$ney should be the focus obviously.M$ney is a HUMANITARIAN RESOURCE.Being JudgementaL isnât.itâs a GREAT disappointment to not go to SeraFina when I LOVE it.SeraFina is...
Read moreSerafina on 77th and Broadway has racist employees. My friend and I were walking in Manhattan on Saturday February 11th around 8pm and happened upon Serafina on 77th and Broadway. We have never been to this restaurant chain so we decided to give it a try. When we walked in, we spoke with one of the hostesses Sabrina (I think that is her name - blonde girl with glasses). We asked for a table for two and she said there were no available tables inside at that moment, however, she could seat us outside (for reference, it was about 40 degrees outside at that time). I declined the seating outside and asked how long was the wait for a table inside. Sabrina told us that she wasn't sure how long the wait would be because no table had asked for their check as yet. I told Sabrina we would wait at the bar, to which she explained that the bar is full service and we could order our meal there. A bartender greeted us with a menu and I expressed to him that we were waiting for a table and would most likely order our bottle of wine at the table. I walked back over to the hostess area after a few minutes and spoke with Dani (who was the other hostess that was present when we initially walked in) and made it clear that we were not going to order at the bar and we were waiting for a table inside. At this time there was no one else waiting for a table. As I walked back to the bar, I noticed that there was a table with 2 seats that was available directly behind where we were sitting at the bar. At that point, another couple (a white couple) walked into the restaurant, and they were immediately seated by Sabrina (the hostess that we initially spoke with) at that open table inside. My friend got frustrated at this point and asked if that particular couple had a reservation as we were already waiting for a table. Sabrina proceeded to flat out lie to us and said that she was told that we were offered that table and we declined it. My friend was visibly upset at their blatant disregard and disrespect for us and we decide to leave the restaurant. On our way out, I asked Dani why didn't she offer us the available table. Her response was that she was waiting to give us a "better" table. So which one is it Dani and Sabrina? - is it that you offered us the table and we turned it down, or is that you were waiting to give us a "better" table? By the way, the entire time this whole ordeal was happening, a bald white guy in a suit who appeared to be a manager was present and did nothing about the situation. Just putting this review out there to alert others about the racist actions of Serafina's employees on 77th and Broadway. Eat there if you don't mind being discriminated against by Dani...
Read moreThe façade and menu of the restaurant looked inviting enough that we decided to give a try. It was not that busy at the moment, so we were sat right away, which was a good start but then it went downhill from there.
We looked at our menu and had enough time to select what we wanted since it took the waited 10 minutes to acknowledge that we were at the table. He took our drinks and food order, and the drinks came in about a minute, not bad, but then the waiting game started. No bread was offered as we saw new tables being offered, no one checked on us, and the waiter just ignored our looks to get an update on our food. It took so long that we were waiting for an update!
And then finally, 35 minutes later our food got to our table. My dish was the typical overcharged New York restaurant dish. A big plate with tiny portions spread-out flat to seem as if a good portion was served, which is not the case. The food was bland, the dressing for the salad nonexistent, but the potatoes, small portion that they were, had an okay taste. The pizza was flat and had nothing special to it.
We were a little bit mad when the table next to us, which was sat 20 minutes after we made our order, got their meals 2 to 3 minutes after we got ours. Of course they did get bread, and the waiter did check on them to see if they were okay.
We ate, we were done, we still left a good tip because I used to be a waiter and I know that some of this bad experience had to do with BOH and not all from the waiter. We are certainly never coming to this restaurant or any of the other restaurants on this chain, it was just a bad experience and put a damp note on our Sunday afternoon.
On a final note, not everything was bad. I do have to say we never had to ask for water, the glasses were always refilled, so if all you care about is water, then this place is the...
