It used to be excellent but its service has deteriorated since last year. I guess it really depends on the person who receives you and fixes your bike, but I feel the quality of their staff has gone for the worse.
After last time (a week ago) I decided to stop going. I went because the rear brake of my bike had some problems. I asked the person who received me whether it can be fixed, and he said it needs to be replaced and told me the money of a new brake, new cable, and installation fee. I hesitated and asked again, because I know a thing or two about mechanics, he said that there’s nothing to be fixed and seemed unwilling to explain further. The attitude put me off and no matter the price, I would not receive his service.
It just seemed to me that the person was trying to sell the parts and get the most money. In fact, the last few times that I went there the people gave me the same feeling. Last time was the last straw.
I got my rear brake fixed at a different shop in the neighborhood at almost half the price. And the person FIXED it (not replace). The brake just needed a bit more tension on the spring, plus a new cable and brake pads, not a whole new brake! Customer service was great too. I decide to switch to that shop from now on. In the mean time I hope they improve albeit I won’t try them in the near future....
Read moreMr. C Cycles is definitely "the" bike shop of Brooklyn. They have variety of of bikes from normal commuter bikes to full- on race bikes. They carry a wide range of brands from such as Cannondale and Giant. The staffs are respectful and take their time to explain whatever concerns you have. You can ask for discounts and ask for ways to reduce the sticker price on their bikes. Aside from bikes, they carry all kind of accessories from bottle cages to jerseys to helmets, it is tough to find something missing from their store. I highly recommend Mr. C Cycles, go in and get a test ride a bike of your desire. (They built a bike out of the box just for me to test ride). They can order any bikes they don't carry in their inventory, and they built it for you. In conclusion, check out Mr. C Cycles and get the bikes of...
Read moreIf you ride a bike, you have got to have a relationship with a good locally owned bike shop, one that will take care of your bike over its entire life. Mr. C's is one of those great locally owned shops. It took me a while to discover them since they aren't right in my neighborhood. But I'm so glad that I did. When I went into to buy a new bike, John helped me. He didn't try to upsell me or try to convince me to get more than what I need. He listened to me, and based his recommendations on what I needed, and ultimately sold me a fairly inexpensive bike, but that is perfect for ME. Everyone else on the staff was so great, too. This is a truly friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, locally owned shop. I'm so glad I finally found them, and I know what bike shop I will be going to...
