NY Luggage Electronics — Local services in New York

I asked for the price of a elite trainer box and was told $79 (still overpriced but it is Times Square), I got to the till and he took my card, the wrong price came up on the till but I did not think anything of it. He gave me my bag and I had to ask for the receipt and I’d been charged over double. The receipt states no refunds but I disputed this because I stated I’d been scammed and after looking at my rights as a consumer in NY it states all prices must be displayed to customers. I asked the man at the till if I could speak to the manager who he called and he just kept stating ‘the price of the boxes is $140 this is always the price’ which I stated I’m not disputing but I was told the wrong price and this seems like a scam if you can charge customers whatever they want and then refuse to refund. I spoke again to the man at the till and stated my receipt states within 3 days an unopened item can be exchanged so I stated I want to exchange the item and I would choose other items to this value which he let me. I facetimed my partner as this is who the pokémon cards were for and showed him what else was there, I chose items he said are more rare/worth the price. The man at the till had clearly caught on my boyfriend knows what he’s talking about and hid a box of the cards behind the till to try and avoid me using the money to get these (I could see them and got these anyway). He also kept showing me gold cards and telling me how rare they are, my boyfriend stated these are fake cards and to avoid them. The whole shop seems like a scam, I am clearly not the first or last person they have done this to and as a lone british female I believe they thought they could take advantage. They also state no photos or videos in the shop which I think is odd for a toy shop. I went in to this store that has over the top prices, the same items are much cheaper on Amazon, by the way, than this store. Since this store is small I told my son who is 20yrs old and his sister who is 12 yrs old, that I would wait for them outside since I had our dog in the stroller, my kids come out and I asked them what they wanted, they said no mommy it's too expensive, and the men were rude. The man told them, that if they were not going to buy it they can't play with it, mean while they were looking for the price. These men are so lucky that I was already outside, but it's OK, because I will buy what they wanted from Amazon. How are you being rude to the people who are about to spend money in your store? Buyer beware! Seriously, these guys have actually gotten a bad wrap. They may have done things in the past that earned their reputation, but that was far from my experience. My family just got from NYC and this was a highlight of our trip. All be it, some of the toys were way overpriced, but some were actually really good deals. A great shop for a collector that does their research. Returns and exchanges are out, though, thus the 4 instead of 5 stars. That seems to be the owners’ policy, though. Take it for what it is: overpriced merch, or great deals for those in the know.
