Read moreBeautiful hotel located right in the heart of the theatre district. For example if you're in town to see the hit Broadway show Hamilton, the Richard Rodgers Theatre is directly across the street. On a cost and location basis alone you won't find a better hotel than the Hotel Edison. The hotel is currently (as of Sept 2024) in the final stages of being remodeled. Our floor was done but you could smell fresh paint when the elevator doors would open up on other floors. The updated rooms are nicely decorated and everything is very clean and modern. We had a room with one king bed, a night table and a desk with a chair. We wished the room had a second chair because one person was always forced to sit on the bed. The bed itself was very comfortable but we did have to call housekeeping for several extra pillows. Also there is no sheet for the bed, just a duvet (comforter) which was comfortable but also heavy and very hot. We stayed there end of August and last thing you want covering you in the summer is thick, hot duvet. A light cotton sheet would've been nice so you could stil cover yourself at night without having to use the hot comforter. Also important to note that the duvet doubles as the bedspread so if you have issues with touching and using a hotel room bedspread (which I usually do) then you're gonna have a problem because, as stated above, there's no other blankets or sheets, just the duvet. The only reason I didn't call housekeeping for an extra sheet was because the duvet looked and felt like it was brand new and was very clean (as I said our room and floor had just been remodeled). I'd be far less inclined to use the duvet on a return visit because it'll no longer be new. Our one major gripe about the hotel room was the bathroom. The bathroom itself was nice (it too had been remodeled) and was very clean but was very small. It had a decent size shower with an all glass door and a trough bathroom sink. The sink was modern and nice looking but it was too wide for the size of the room and there was no counter space whatsoever to put anything like soap, toothpaste, hair supplies etc. Also the sink itself was far too shallow so you had to keep the water pressure from the tap very low or else water would splash all over you and the floor. The sink was a minor inconvenience though compared to the toilet situation which was a total nightmare. First off the toilet was way too low to the ground. It reminded me of the toilets at a kids preschool that's how low it was, like it was designed for 4yr olds to sit on. Also the toilet was wedged so tightly in-between the glass shower door and the sink that you couldn't spread your legs at all while you were sitting on the toilet. Now I know that sounds hilarious and believe me we had a lot of laughs about the ridiculousness of the situation but once the laughs subsided it quickly became a huge pain in the arse (no pun intended) for our whole stay. There was absolutely no way that a grown adult (or even young teen) of any size could sit on that toilet and open their legs even slightly to do their business. God forbid you're a woman and it's that time of the month cause you are totally screwed. I assure you this is no exaggeration either. You could be the size of a tiny runway model or heaven forbid a plus sized person and either way there's no way in hell your legs are spreading open even half an inch sitting on that too low toilet. It was a nightmare because you had to stand up to finish and the bathroom itself was so small it made for a lot of very uncomfortable moments every time you went in there to do your business. Hotel Pros: Beautiful hotel, gorgeous lobby, nice updated and very clean rooms, great price, prime location. Hotel Cons: Bathroom is awful, especially toilets (in rooms with king size bed). No bed sheets, just a hot duvet. Only one chair in room. No mini-fridge. Hotel service menu on tv didn't work and tv itself didn't always work...
Read moreSo, I don’t know who they paid to get my original post edited down. I initially came on and complained about my whole experience somehow it’s gotten deleted and replaced by “Small Rooms”. The owner/his boss saw and responded immediately, Which I appreciated it. I swear to you not even 10 minutes after I posted the review, I got a ring from jerk himself who gave me only a partial discount after all of that ridiculous runaround. I truly hope he doesn’t work there anymore because with a leader like that a business cannot grow. The girls at the front desk were apologetic for his behavior also, Which should tell you something. I will attach the pictures of why I had gotten a free upgrade in the first place though they ended up screwing me over in the end. Wasn’t a pleasant experience and wouldn’t go back.
It’s long but here’s the original post:
So I stayed at the Hotel Edison from June 9th- 12th. I booked it through Priceline so everything should've been covered. When I went to check in there was a $100 deposit that was to be returned to me at the end of my stay. When I got up to my room the whole room wasn't clean, I called down to the front desk and they switched me to another room. This room was even worse! There were holes in walls, wallpaper coming off the walls and clear mold from wet spots. I went back down to the desk and the manager asked if I wanted an upgrade and if they would waive the fee because of my disastrous first impression of 2 separate rooms. Of course, I accepted because it was too late to change my reservation, I got in my room and everything was fine (It's an old hotel so even the upgraded rooms are not that nice) The Location was great but if you want a view this is not the hotel for you. When I was checking out they made no mention of anything, They took my key and that was it. A few days go by and I see a charge on my capitol one from Hotel Edison for 166.00. So, I called them on 5 separate occasions about it and they kept telling me to give it a few days and the charge should go away... It didn't. So, I disputed the charge. They in return denied the dispute. I was told to talk to Mr. Luis Dela-Santos, I left him several phone messages not including messages from the front desk and HR who assured me that they were putting messages on his desk so he could see them. Mind you this is Early August, Finally September 20th, I got a hold of Mr. Dela Santos, Who only briefly listening to what I had to say rudely and very smugly said "Well, Our records show that everything's correct." This after explaining all that happened and not being able to get a hold of him nor a call back from him in over a month. So, they lied to me and didn't waive the fee, and because the didn't waive the fee the deposit wasn't given back to me... Makes no sense. Only after I told him I had pictures of the room did he offer to give me back 2 of the waived fee days which still didn't add up and of course, they get to keep the $100 deposit because I was charged more than the initial deposit. I'm honestly just over it at this point because It had been 4 months almost 5 months since I stayed there. He told me it would be in my account in 3-5 business...It has been over a week, Called my bank and nothing has been deposited. Called him again, No response.
Other than the location.
THIS IS THE HANDS DOWN WORST EXPERIENCE and interaction I've ever had with a Hotel. The lack of communication and empathy was outrageous and I cannot believe that they would treat a guest in this matter. The fact that I was passed around and never got a callback, The fact that things were miscommunicated to me, and The initial fact they gave me not 1 but 2 dirty rooms is disheartening. This has been 4/ almost 5 months of annoyance that hasn't been fulfilled. The one thing I did discover was there were way better and more efficient hotels in the area. Save the headache and just go...
