tl;dr - Don't go here if you actually want to watch the movie. If you want to act out, be as loud as you want, and not give a damn about the people around you, THIS IS THE PLACE.
Long version: I went to see a film there last night (2025 06.07) and the woman next to me took a phone call. Rude. Then got off the phone and started texting them. I told her "do you mind?" and she said "I'm just texting someone, I'll only be a moment" as if that's ok because she's admitting it. I told her she should do that outside the theater. She acted like I was some sort of weirdo for suggesting such an indignity, and decided to ignore me. I went downstairs to get a refund, and unfortunately could only get passes to see another movie and run the already observed risk of going through this once again. Granted the employees are only doing what they're told to, and they're as helpful as they can be and I appreciate it.
But it's as if the old 42nd street of the 70s and 80s was back. In the 80s there were 3 kinds of theaters - adult, kung-fu, and actually current/first run films. Out of curiosity I tried the 3rd of those (I think it was Beverly Hills Cop 2) and every single person there was talking with their friends like it's a night club, with the occasional trash can being thrown down the stairs. The only thing you could hear in the movie is when someone made a "toilet humor" joke, to which everyone would laugh, but then go back to their conversations.
Now I'm not saying this theater is that bad, but I get the distinct impression that Regal wouldn't care either way, as long as the money keeps flowing. So let it flow, but it...
Read moreThe only thing I liked about this place was the reclining seats seriously how are you on a second opening day for a movie and u don’t have a cup nor do u have the popcorn bowl or nothing the short Hispanic manager was also very very rude and nasty I asked for three meals that where supposed to be served with a drink a hot dog and a candy bag well heck no the guy did what ever the heck he felt like it and charged me for all of it individually so make shore that when u say combo you pay for the combo and u get what u payed for and not what the heck he or they feel like doing or giving you and charging u individually so let’s recap make shore u get what u ask for if u ask for a cambio make shore they charge u for said combo or combos and also they have a snack store if want to buy them there early cause it dose close early another thing if u want to come back your better off buying them there early monthly unlimited pass for 27 dollars each then two tickets that cost the same exactly it’s crazy and they don’t even explain to u that you get it for the same price of one ticket unlimited movies except 4dx and one more thing so any ways I was charged 97 $ for three combos that where supposed to come with a bag of candy and I got none of the above and charged separately for everything the ma ever or person that served us had a very nasty attitude but the seats where great guess cause everyone gose to amc next door cause if your looking for customers services...
Read moreThey lose another star now because 4DX is a bust. Saw Avatar Way of Water and there was NO water, fog, tickling, scent or rain like there used to be. Only effects working were motion, vibration, wind and strobe lights. My original seat also did not move all the time with the other rows so I had to move. This is after I already tried to see the 4DX at Union Sq. and the seats didn't move at all so 4DX is breaking down and deteriorating across the brand or at least in NY unfortunately.
I want to say that Regal has done a much better job than AMC on the amount of legroom you get with the recliners. AMC Kips Bay and AMC Empire my feet hit the front wall when I recline all the way back. At Regal Ewalk, my feet don't touch. My only complaint is that the swivel table is a bit intrusive even when it's retracted but maybe that's because I'm big.
Another issue which is hwy they lose a star - there's a bug with buying tickets on the kiosks. It will not allow you to buy without picking a seat, and it will not allow you to pick a seat if it would leave a single seat vacant. If the show is almost sold out, and there are only sets of pair seats together, it's impossible for a single ticket purchaser to select a seat without it leaving another single seat vacant, which means you cannot complete the transaction and have to go to the counter. Very annoying because I could have gotten sold sold out in the time it took to...
