Photo Lab NYC, LLC — Local services in New York

First and last time I will ever use this place… Dropped off my film almost 2 weeks ago and was told it would be done in 2 days. Pretty standard. On the 2nd day I hadn’t received any communication at all so I decided to call myself. After 5 attempts someone finally answered where they told me they had a flood and would have my film by hopefully Wednesday (3 more days). I felt bad and was patient. By Wednesday i was emailed that I would not be getting my film and I would have to wait until “by Monday”….. I truly felt awful these people had a flood so I decided to wait. Monday came and I still had no film or any type of communication from this place whatsoever When I tried calling on Monday my phone call was going straight to voicemail for 8 consecutive attempts. Until someone answered when they told me my film wasn’t ready and they didn’t know how long. It is now Wednesday of writing this and is till don’t have all my film. And to be honest, it does t seem like they care at all. Absolutely...

I rarely leave a place in NY feeling like I got what I paid for- PhotoLab is one of those exceptions. I took a night print class and printed large the next morning, both of which were very positive experiences. Carter was very helpful during the darkroom course, and the morning staff was very helpful and patient with me the following morning. The facility and materials are of the highest quality without a doubt, but what makes this place truly special is the people who help make it happen. Already excited to go back...

Above and beyond experience here. Took the Thursday color printing class. Though I have plenty of BW darkroom experience and have been shooting for over a decade, I had never printed color. The class was very thorough, collaborative and fun, and the owner Rafa stayed significantly later than the scheduled end of the class to answer my questions and chat about photography in general. Have yet to drop off film for developing, but when it comes to printing, I can’t wait to return...
