Gasper restored the original cast iron railing, fence, and gates to my house to its original condition. In a few months, he will repair, upgrade the looks and security, and reset the window bars, the gate to the garden apartment, and the gate to my door. I had several companies come and examine the front of my house and provide recommendations. Gasper provided the most detailed analysis of how he could repair, upgrade, restore, and increase safety out of all the companies I had visited. He was also able to explain the process, potential outcomes, potential problems, and all elements surrounding the issue and process better than everybody else.

I spent a lot of time talking with him, visiting his shop, and meeting with the rest of his team. He has the skill and experience, his team members have the skill and experience, and he has the facilities and resources to optimize the outcome and address any unforeseen problems.

Luckily, I have not had any trouble with contractors working on my house; however, my neighbors have encountered numerous contractors who did shoddy work, were incoherent, or drove away and never contacted anybody again. You don't have that issue with Gasper and his company.

Finally, the part I enjoyed about working with Piscopo is that he is a craftsman, at least how I envision one. Watching him and his team work, and visiting his shop, made me understand that you were getting a human eye and hand working on your project over putting it through an assembly line. Gasper and his crew did a fantastic job restoring the fence and railings outside our property, which were badly degraded due to lack of maintenance.

I’ve posted some photos of the before and after condition. There was major peeling, rust and other damage so this definitely was more of a restoration effort than regular upkeep.

After an inspection Gasper proposed removing the fence and railings for off-site sandblasting, repair and spray painting. Naturally that’s significantly more labor and therefore more expensive than the “scrape and paint” proposed by some other contractors, but we knew it would provide a much higher quality and longer lasting result, and avoid any possibility of lead contamination.

Communication throughout the project was excellent. The crew came and went as per the schedule outlined in the initial quotation, and the disruption from the work was minimal. Since Piscopo do a full range of metalworking, they also had the materials, tools and expertise to perform repairs on several sections of the railings including the hinged gate.

We are very happy with the final result. They have been installed now for close on a year and look excellent. We would 100% recommend Piscopo for this...

I am not someone who often writes reviews but I could not let my positive experience and satisfaction with Gasper and his workers go unnoticed. I found the website for Piscopo Iron Works when I was searching for someone to repair and restore the railing and newels for my family house in Brooklyn. The house was built in 1899 and was purchased by my grandfather in 1924. The railings and newels had been ‘patched up’ through the years but were now clearly in need of more extensive restoration. Gasper promptly responded to my call and came to visually assess the work. He explained the process of sand blasting to remove the many coats of paint and how he could provide a more thorough assessment at that point. He invited me to the shop to see the railings and newels in their stripped down condition and explained the repairs necessary and how it would done. Gasper was knowledgeable and passionate about his work. He understood my intent to maintain the heritage and integrity of my home.
