Torn first time patient here…. I’d like to give my visit a 4 or 5 stars, but I can not do so at this point.

On one hand, Dr Frenkel is a very nice man. My first interaction with him, over the phone, was pleasant.

On the other hand: after my first visit: I have never been so rushed by a doctor. Granted, I was a tad late, coming from another medical appointment that ran a bit late.

I had requested to have all the medical forms emailed to me so that I could fill them out in advance but the staff did not send them. So, I ended up having to fill them out in the waiting room while he took another regular patient who was scheduled after me!

He was in the room with me for less than 5 minutes and he did NOT listen to one word I said, talking over me and not paying attention to the answers I was giving to his few questions.

Painful exam on the table. Once again, most likely because he was rushing through my visit….

His office staff is “challenging”; maybe it’s the language barrier, maybe it’s cultural….. they are on the very frosty side but not in a “mean attitude” way… just not engaging at all. They do not smile, barely look at you and their sternness can be off putting.

His nurse (L.) was as rushed as Dr Frenkel and botched by blood retrieval. That had only ever happened to me once in the past 40+ years of my life. I gently told her to take her time & not rush while trying to insert a needle in my vein ( I have excellent veins, perfect for blood retrievals or IV lines, all medical practitioners joke about that) but she dismissed me by saying that she was not in a rush or rushing through her job….. while rushing to puncture my other arm to withdraw blood. Painful again. I tried to make basic small talk to be pleasant. No reaction whatsoever…..

Will I go back to this medical practice: yes because my experience in the exam room could have been an one off and I’d hate to miss out on a good practitioner since, based on several of his other patients’ reviews, Dr Frenkel is a good doctor to them. I highly recommend Dr. Frenkel if you need actual medical expertise, not just fluffy bedside manner (even though he’s also very friendly). My primary care doctor recommended Dr. Frenkel to me when my previous gynecologist botched the insertion AND attempted removal of my birth control implant (the arm implant called Nexplanon). Instead of getting it out, the previous doctor accidentally pushed it back deep into my arm. Going into my new appointment I was terrified that it would now be too deep to get out because of the other doctor’s mistake. I thought I’d have to go to a hospital & get a surgeon etc for a procedure that should have been small. However, within a few minutes Dr. Frankel was able to remove it in his office. When one doctor digs around in your arm with a scalpel unsuccessfully/detrimentally and another doctor is able to fix it (Dr. Frankel) you leave feeling very, very grateful. Earlier I mentioned fluffy bedside manner vs. medical expertise. I bring this up because my previous doctor who botched the procedure had amazing online reviews, but in retrospect, they were all about the doctor’s friendliness, not about any medical ability. Friendliness does NOT matter when you’re physically under the knife. It just matters if the doctor is a talented doctor who can actually heal you, and for me that was Dr. Frenkel. Stay away from this Dr. if you care about yourself. Prescribed me birth control without knowing what my abdominal pain was about . Prescribed yeast infection cream 7-daycream-which is old method - now they have a 1- day pill for that and I DO NOT have a yeast infection because I just had a test done. I asked for and MRI to check my abdominal pain right away he said my insurance did not cover it . Which was ABSOLUTELY NOT TRUE. Quick visit , not listening to my health issues. Biased opinion-Assumes abdominal pain is female related. Not respectful towards women and their needs. Not Proactive Doctor not concerned about your health and well being. Thank God I found another Dr Felix COHEN who has helped me rule out my strange abdominal pain I one visit sent me for MRI w/ contrast to see my ovaries. While in his office did an ultrasound Checked blood , urine )ruling out anything gynecological. and referred me to another doctor a...
