Great amenities and classes overall but I’m giving them 1-star due to the mean and disrespectful security guards.

I tried to bring a folding bike in, which they told me was against the rules. This is completely okay by me. I didn’t argue with them and I don’t mind abiding by the rules. After they very “helpfully” suggested simply leaving a multi-thousand dollar bike outside without a lock, I told them it was fine (with no fuss or attitude) and I’d rather just go home instead of risking bike theft. That should have been the end of it, however, one of the elderly men manning the entrance kept talking loudly at me (even after I politely told them I was leaving).

Him: “Ma’am, I’m sorry. I appreciate how it’s folded but you need to understand our rules and policy.”

Me: Yup, no worries. Again, I said I completely understand. I’m gonna head out—

Him: We just don’t allow exceptions for anyone and we don’t allow strollers—

Me: I already said no worries and I’m not arguing with you. You’re just talking at me now while I’m on my way out. Have a good evening.

Then, while calmly carrying my bike out, they burst out laughing rudely behind my back. Seriously? How are you in your sixties (seventies?) but behave like teenagers?

I also want to add that I did not raise my voice. I did not argue back against the rules. All I did was ask if the rules also applied to folding bikes, which are designed to be brought indoors. They told me no and I calmly accepted that but this didn’t stop them from continuing to chastise me loudly about “rules”. 🙄

I’m recounting the most recent incident but there have been several others where they’ve been rude in a “jokey”, clique-y way. It’s giving “Old New York Cat Callers”, which is disappointing considering these are the first people you interact with while entering the premises. Talk about an...

Have many things there including even a swimming pool. I know the place best for its Israeli Folk Dancing that is there every Wednesdays (expect Jewish holidays) from 8:15pm-12:45am. Dancing alternates about every half hour between Couple and Circle dancing. Usually every time they teach 1 Circle dance and 1 Couple dance. Notices of dances are sent in advance to people that come and put there name on their email list. Teaching basics (pre-registered series) is before 7-8pm. Current fee is $14 per person. Now usually on 4th Floor but was on 2nd Floor Ballroom and now also there some of the time. Few Saturday nights a year there are parties. BIG Marathon party is always evening before Thanksgiving holiday until 4am where lots of people participate. Really fun and good exercise. Currently 92nd Y requires proof of Covid-19 Vaccination to enter the building and email for contact tracing if Covid-19 infection...

I was told I was locked into a $59.99 membership for as long as we are stuck in Covid. Well, my membership is now $82 and as far as I know, Covid is still going on. They said that with this price increase they would give members more amenities like towel service starting September 1st, when they raised the price. It is now October 15th and we still don't have towels. They brought used, rusty kitchen racks into the locker room where towels are supposed to be, but still no towels. The elevators take FOREVER. It will take you 5-10 minutes to get up or down to the third floor where the gym is. It drives me crazy. Check out this picture I took today while waiting for the elevator. This is what I...
