Shaj Ghar — Local services in New York

I love the dress I got from Shaj Ghar. Honestly, dress alone - 5 stars. The buying of the dress was more complicated.

I do not live in the area, but a friend does so we made plans to meet here based on the hours listed on the door. First time, no one was there.

I called to make sure the second time I came, someone would be there to help me. I also told the woman on the phone that I was worried they wouldn't have my size because I have a larger body. She asked for my size and told me it would be totally fine.

I went the second time after calling to make sure someone would be there. I met a very kind man who told me his wife couldn't be there. He gave me a few things to try on that did not fit. His wife then got on a video call and told me that if I come a third time, she will be there.

This place is an hour away from my home. I have traveled at this point for four hours. I loved what I saw and the wedding I was attending was now a week away. I had very few options. I chose to go a third time. The woman said she would be there to help me.

When I got to the store, she looked at me and told me she didn't think she had anything that would fit my body.

The first dress she gave was a little too tight. She told me that was the largest size they had. There was also no time for adjustments (which is totally on me.) I bought the dress after making the decision.

When I wore this dress to my boyfriend's friend's wedding, I was so happy I bought it. I felt like a Princess.

My husband and I went into the store looking for something to wear to a special event. After looking around for a little, I noticed some bracelets behind the counter that I wanted to see. I told one of the women working that I would like to see the bracelets behind the counter. She then told me that the male worker who was closest to the bracelets would hand them to me. After the woman told the man that I would like to see the bracelets , he continued to sit down and eat. There was a brief pause... then, with out making any eye contact says, " come back later, we are eating". I have never ever received such poor customer service in my entire life. To turn away a customer because "you are eating" is not only poor customer service but a testament to how little they value the people they are supposed to serve. So unfortunate that this was my first and last time coming to the store. I will also make sure to tell everyone I know that this business prioritizes mid day snacking over...

-They 100% take advantage and do not value their customers. They gave me two different prices when I asked two separate sales people... seems like their pulling prices out of nowhere :/

-Their customer service is below subpar, they are rude and unwelcoming, ESPECIALLY the woman (the owner) - she was not wearing a mask.

-Their store policies are not visible for the consumers. They don’t practice providing a receipt upon purchase.

-Aside from that, their hours are not regular, we went to go visit for several days on several times as per their posted schedule - and yet (surprise surprise!) they weren’t even open. We tried to call them multiple times as well, no one picked up the phone... it made me question how a business such as this has managed to stay afloat, but then I remembered how they overcharge the customer for a simple piece of cloth, truly sad.

Simply put: I would not recommend this establishment to anyone, nor would I give them...
