Nail by honey spa — Local services in New York

This is normally my favorite nail salon and I’ve been going here for a while. That’s the only reason I’m giving 3 stars. I came to the salon to get a pedicure and a fill in and a nail fixed. My pedicure literally took over 2 hours and was the worse pedicure I’ve ever received. The man was doing my feet and I told him I wanted acrylic on my big toes. He gestured for the younger guy to come do it(which I was fine with. I understand not everyone knows how to lay acrylic.) when the younger guy is done the nails are extremely thick and long. I ask the man to file them down to match my other toes (that’s the point of acrylic) and we sit there going back and forth for at least 10 minutes. My toes still look crwzy so I ask the guy again to even them out to match my other toes, he rounds out the edges a bit but they’re still super thick… we continue to go back and forth until I give up and literally take the file from him and start shaping them myself. Finally the younger boy comes and I explain to him the nails are too tick and I want them to match my other toes. He files them down a bit but goes back to doing the persons nails he was working on before. My toes still look off and too thick but I figured this is the best I’m going to get. (Mind you this isn’t the 1st time I’ve had my toes done here with acrylic. So I’m not understanding why today the service is lack luster.) The older man starts painting my toes. The polish he’s using is super thick and running out. Therefore it’s leaving huge streaks on my toes nails. Instead of switching polish he continues to paint them over and over. I’m trying to explain to him the polish is bumpy and ask him if maybe we can try a new color. He doesn’t listen and continues to paint. I ask him again finally the younger guy comes back and I explain to him the polish is bumpy. Instead of taking it off he just puts a coat on it to show me the coat will help it look even. I’m literally appalled at this point 😳 but don’t want to be that person so I just stay quiet and he continues to paint my nails over and over trying to even the bumps instead of redoing them. I ask him again to try a different paint. He literally just adds acetone to the same bottle and goes over the same nails again, this has to be at least the 6th coat. Finally the other young girl sees my agitation and tells him to take it off and she’ll come paint my toes. With all the acetone he used to get the many layers of nail polish off my feet the skin on my toes dried out like I didn’t just get a pedicure. I literally left the pedicure station with ashy feet ?! I had to re-soak and moisturize my feet when I got home because the acetone and dried nail polish ate my feet up. The worse pedicure I’ve ever gotten.

Then to add insult to injury when I got my fill in she charged me an extra 10$ when I asked her why my nails 💅🏽 were $45 she had the nerve to catch an attitude and say “honey your nails are too long it’s $40 for your fill in “ So I told her the price list says 30$ for a fill in not a scale price of 30-40$ like other items on their price list, and if she’s going to charge someone more she needs to tell them before the service. What if I didn’t have enough money?! 💰 What if I didn’t want to pay that?! 💵 You can’t make up prices after a service is rendered. I got a fill in with gel for 45 last time I came, now she’s telling my my fill in is 40 with regular polish. 🥴 Even with her attitude and charging me 10$ I still tipped her $5, this lady seen the cash I had on me and had the nerve to say “and what about tip for your pedicure?” I said “You mean the pedicure that took over 2 hours and 3 people to do?!” The pedicure was $41 and the nails $45.

I don’t normally write reviews, but this was definitely upsetting. I arrived around 11:30 am and didn’t leave until about past 4pm. When I arrived, it was busy, i understood and I waited. I got a nail tech that I had never seen before. Usually Shirley or the tall skinny man that works there do my nails but this lady I hadn’t seen before. I showed her my inspo pic and she said no problem. But it was just a disaster. I wasn’t content with her line work and honestly it was sloppy and not precise at all. Luis then came and said that it would never be the same as the photo. I guess I had high expectations from the job Shirley does. She worked on my nails for about 3 hours and said she couldn’t do it. I grabbed a photo as inspo from their instagram page since they told me to choose another design. The woman still struggled to do my nails and it didn’t look nothing like the photo. I was upset and tired I just wanted to go home and I still hadn’t gotten my pedicure. She showed me the nails and even though they looked nothing like what I showed her, I told her they looked fine. I recently had the pleasure of getting my nails done by Cici, and I couldn't be more satisfied with the experience! From the moment I walked in, the entire staff was welcoming and respectful, creating a relaxing and friendly atmosphere. Cici, in particular, did an amazing job with my nails. She paid great attention to detail, ensuring that everything was perfect. I could tell she truly cared about her work and wanted me to leave happy.

The salon itself was clean, organized, and had a calming vibe that made the experience even better. I appreciate how Cici took her time to make sure my nails looked exactly how I wanted, and the results were stunning. I left the salon feeling pampered and very pleased with my beautiful nails.
