Both of my children and myself have been taking lessons with Dima and all have learned a great deal from him. My daughter plays saxophone and my son plays piano and wants to learn to play guitar. Both of them started from zero and within a year can play quite a few songs. I play piano for many years and wanted to pick up guitar and learn to play piano by ear. Dima was a fantastic resource for me. The fact that one teacher can do all that is mind blowing. He is really good at explaining complex parts of music theory in a very digestible way. My children were learning to read sheet music and I wanted to learn to improvise and all of us got what we wanted. Dima doesn't just teach how to reproduce a piece of music, he studies it with you, taking it apart, explaining how harmony works, even suggesting variations of a simple piece. My son can be quite particular, and when he decides he doesn't want to do something, it's often a firm no. For a time, he almost stopped singing altogether. However, last year, we decided to give it another shot with Daniel, and it has made a world of difference—my son now looks forward to his classes! Daniel has a broad approach to teaching and is knowledgeable about a variety of instruments; in fact, they even have a mini orchestra! He prepared my son for a chorus solo performance, which was an incredible experience for him as he sang in front of 1,000 people. We were looking for over a year for the right place for my son to explore his interest in music, and finally found Sounds of Music! We are very happy we did, my son’s skills improved so much only within half a year, and, most importantly he loves making music. He participated in so many concerts from his school, nyssma and festivals. The recital from Sound of Music was the highlight of this music year, the students play many instruments beautifully, the teachers did amazing job teaching the kids and preparing the recital! we enjoyed the performance and were very happy our son was a part of it!
