South Williamsburg — Local services in New York

Bought a ticket, waited for a couple of ferries for 20 min. Went to a different place and came back again and waited 30 more minutes. The first ferry didn't let anyone on. The second filled up with only 6-12 people before it was full. A dad with a newborn baby had waited for 3 ferries and weren't allowed the last 1 person spot due to the baby. On the weekends it's very hard to get on to a Pier 11 Wall St. (southbound) boat, there's never any room left. Although a little longer, I would suggest boarding a Hunters Point (northbound) boat and riding all the way to the end at Hunters Point, getting off and then getting back on. Guarantees a spot on a boat going south. Or just transferring at 34th to an express...

On a busy weekend summer afternoon I wouldn't waste time trying to board a ferry go towards Wall St/Pier 11 (Manhattan). The ferries are packed and an insufficient number of people get off so there isn't enough space for passengers to get on. I waited for three boats to have space before I called it quits.
