Spectacularly gorgeous venue. I had a beautiful, intimate wedding here (around 45 guests).

Everything went really well until the end of the night when the venue coordinator rushed me, my guests, and my catering staff/vendors out early, and didn’t give us time to pack up all of our stuff. In our contract, it stated we’d have the venue for our event until 10:30pm but everyone was pushed out around 10pm. Many of my guests had to wait outside in the cold in formal wear because they had scheduled their rides for half an hour later.

It was also stated in our contract, that we’d have 4 hours for clean up, but we were locked out of the building after only about 30-45 minutes. We were locked out and had to have everything cleared up essentially by the time our event was supposed to have ended. That was severely disappointing.

In Weylin’s defense, it was the night of a snowstorm and I understand them wanting to get their staff home before the weather got worse. HOWEVER, we weren’t forewarned or compensated in any way for this and in the commotion we left (and subsequently never got back) the only piece of wedding decor I planned on keeping because we were so rushed and got locked out before we could check/clear the rooms and then locked out before we could check/clear the building. And again, my guests were kicked out before our allotted time slot with no warning or method of getting back to their hotels. We did not receive any acknowledgment or apologies until after my husband sent an email a couple weeks later—then we got a vague apology with some blame towards us. My wedding was 7 months ago and this still makes me sad and upset because it was such a horrible ending to a lovely event.

I understand that these are unusual and specific circumstances, so I’m hoping no one else comes across these issues, but it felt very callous to kick us, our guests and our vendors out early without any warning and to not give us our promised (and paid for) time to collect our things.

Emotionally I want to leave Weylin a 1 star review, but reasonably I believe 3 is fair. It really is a stunning venue and for the most part the staff was friendly and easy...

I photographed a wedding at Weylin in July 2024, and I’d like to share my impression of working at this venue from the perspective of a wedding photographer. Pros: The atmosphere is fantastic and unique, thanks to the venue being located in a historic building with incredibly high ceilings and a dome. Shooting a wedding here was a distinctive experience, unlike any other wedding I’ve had the chance to photograph. Cons: The rooms for the bride’s and groom’s getting ready photos are very small. Even with a wide-angle lens (such as 16-35mm), there isn’t enough space. There’s also very little natural light, so the entire wedding needs to be photographed with either a flash or constant lighting. Flash use is limited to direct, as there’s nothing above to bounce light off, which affects the final result. Some people like direct flash, so in that case, this wouldn’t be a downside. Overall, the photos turn out beautifully, but for an inexperienced photographer, working at this venue may be challenging due to the lighting conditions and the small rooms.

Weylin is one of those gorgeous former-bank-turned-venues with extremely high ceilings similar to Capitale (now closed) + Cipriani 42nd St. Formerly the Williamsburg Savings Bank and later a HSBC bank, it had a 3+ year restoration and opened in 2014 as a wedding venue. There's simply tons of architectural detail and space to work with here for weddings + events up to about 450 guests (seated). They also have a small parking lot on S 5th St. (Not the one on Driggs Ave!). Loved the wedding I shot here last year! Note: do make sure that if/when you hire a photographer for this venue to make sure they're GREAT at the evening photos as you can't bounce light with the high ceilings! Ask for galleries!
