Literally THE WORST! They don't even deserve 1 star. I actually loved their fitness offerings until one day I showed up literally on time for class but as I walked through the door, the time changed from 7.30am to 7.31am and I became technically "late" for class. Even though there was room in the class and even though I was a MEMBER paying a monthly fee to belong to their studio with member benefits (i.e. I wasn't a drop-in) they said they would not let me join the class. Instead of rescheduling me into another class or turning this really frustrating early morning experience into something positive, they put the cherry on top telling me that they'd be charging me in full for the class ($30). The front desk person was beyond rude and more concerned complaining to her friend about her upcoming final than making sure me, their paying member was given appropriate customer service. When I wrote an email complaining about my experience, the manager Hayley cancelled my membership (with a rude sarcastic email about the studio not being "the right fit") and claimed she would be refunding my membership and the class I wasn't allowed into. Well, that didn't exactly happen! I got my cc statement and of course I had not been refunded. When I sent them proof of this, they finally remitted a refund. BASICALLY, this studio is a hot mess with people running it who have outside ambitions that don't make the studio (which has an amazing lineup of instructors and classes) a priority. It needs much better management, rules that reflect the spirit of Pilates and yoga better. Reactions that are so blatantly "rude" and "spiteful" and "negative" should never be under the same roof as mind-body workouts. It hails back to the guru Bikram's practices (who is on the run and now a criminal). As a fitness enthusiast I was honestly shocked by how poorly run this studio is, and as much as I will miss their Pilates classes, I'm relieved to never step in their studio again. If you're a member or a drop-in, I highly recommend you check your statements for over charges like inaccurate "no show" fees etc. They had the audacity to charge me for one of these after they took it upon themselves to cancel my membership. How can you cancel someone's membership and then charge them for classes a week later--THAT'S FRAUD! I also did give them the heads up that I would be reviewing their studio after my experience so there's no way they can act surprised about this review. My recco is find out where else their teachers instruct and GO...

Over time I've gotten more invested into my practice and recently completed some of their workshops and trainings (handstand workshops, 25-hour weekend training on Koshas/pranayama/Asana, and a 200-hr teacher training) and all well high quality and helped me tremendously. â¤ď¸
Update Dec 2023: amazing community and so glad to be part of this community.
Been coming to YO BK for about a year and a half now (200+ classes), alternating between the Williamsburg and Greenpoint locations. I tried other yoga studios, but kept coming back here. I love the instructors and the supportive community.
The caliber of teachers is fantastic. I'm impressed by how much I learn in each class. I've had classes with have all been great, I learn something new each time even if doing the same type of class. I used to have some teacher recommendations, but the more teachers that I try the more that I realize that you can't go wrong at YO BK.
In my first 6 months coming to YO BK I enjoyed feeling the progress in my body of a consistent practice, particularly with Traditional Hot Yoga classes. There were things I couldn't fathom doing at the beginning that became possible over time. After 6 months I signed up for a yearly unlimited membership, and started regularly going to other classes. It's been amazing to challenge myself in different ways a I remain a big fan. My strength, flexibility and endurance have all improved. Most importantly, I feel grounded, present and happier when I consistently go to class.
I noticed some that some people complain about not being let into class late. I for one appreciate it, it shows respect to the 20+ students that arrived on time to class by helping them remain safe, present and focused on their practice. I know it's very upsetting when due to something out of my control this happens to me, but still, I appreciate the policy.

Read moreMy first class with YOBK at their Williamsburg location was fantastic. The pricing was fair, the environment incredibly warm (no hot yoga pun intended.), and the facilities clean and well maintained. My instructor of the class, Brigid, was super welcoming, friendly, and brought a unique and charismatic positivity to the class.
I'm writing this review not just because this is probably the best Yoga studio North Brooklyn has to offer, but because of the customer service I received here. When attending my second class, there was an issue of me not being able to practice due to lateness, which, while disappointing, is understandable. Kate, who is the owner, PERSONALLY reached out to me to hear my concerns and to make me feel as welcome and accommodated as possible. Through her clear communication, poise, and willingness to help me, I have never felt more comfortable to continue my practice with YOBK.
I seldom write reviews in general, but there is something... no, a LOT to be said about great leadership and the rarity that is exemplary customer service. To anyone considering pursuing their Yoga practice further and are looking for both a welcoming and judgement free environment, look no further than YOBK. And to all of my entrepreneurs reading this review, take notes; THIS is how you run a business.
Can't wait until my next sweat...
