I shop at both location, Congrats to the owners on all the success with a store in the city. Brighton Beach location however has seen its better days. The salesgirl was unbelievably rude to my elderly mother, basically calling her stupid because she couldn’t figure out the sale price on her own. She was too busy chatting with a guy friend who pointed out to her that she was very rude, to which she replied :”no big deal what they going to do.?” I changed my mind about buying a book I was going to buy. I wonder how many sales they made today , I am guessing zero with an attitude like that. I will continue shopping at the Manhattan location around the holidays, but have no desire to come back every week to buy a new book at that cold uninviting place where I was made feel unwelcome over and over again for the last couple of years. Something needs to change . I am sure it’s not the owners fault that people they hire pretend to be all nice like they love people and will do their best to sell merchandise that sellls itself with a help of a smile and a little small talk, but when left unsupervised show very poor judgment and horrible people skills and end up driving customers away and nor really earning their pay...
Read moreDefective products, awful customer service. Beware! I ordered a beautiful 4.5L teapot from their website. I received a defective item (the teapot was visibly crooked, they definitely knew about it - it’s impossible not to notice), immediately contacted the store and asked for refund/replacement. Their answer was: “Ship it back to us and we will replace it”. I asked for a shipping label and received a firm NO, we don’t do it. So, they basically made it my problem that they knowingly sent me a defective item. That teapot was almost $130! So, I called my bank and started the claim. Bank called them and it took a week to finally send us a return label, and then another week to issue a refund. After that we received a call from the store owner asking us very impolitely to not order anything else from their store. I’m still in shock! Just wanted to warn that they will try to screw you over and be rude to you! “Customer service” - not so much! Of course I’ll NEVER shop...
